I think it's more support for the case that there never was one.

There was never much of a Trump "surge", but Hillary's national lead seems to have stabilized in the mid-to-high single digits.  At the height of Hillary's convention surge, most national polls showed her leading by around 10 points nationally, and by pretty insane margins in some "battleground state" polls.

Yeah, I doubt that. You underestimate the partisanship of the American public. Trump has the (R) after his name, so he's guaranteed 45% just for showing up.
