I consulted with Bono on a Senatorial Ratings idea like the real-life ACLU does.  These aren't official (and will be updated as more civil liberties bills are voted on)

Atlasian Civil Liberties Caucus:  Senatorial Report Card

For bills where a Senator was not in office at the time it was voted on, or where the Senator did not vote, it is not included in the score; for a bill where the Senator abstained, it is counted as the opposite of how we wanted them to vote (i.e. if we encourage the Senate to vote NAY on a bill and the Senator abstains, it is counted as a YEA).

* On the Abolition of Discrimination in the Military Bill, Senators were expected to vote "YEA." - We oppose any laws or rules that make homosexuals more liable to be discharged just for talking about their sexual orientation than heterosexuals.
* On the Affirmative Action Bill, Senators were expected to vote "YEA." - We oppose the use of discrimination to heal past racial wounds.
* On the Protection of the Right to Bear Arms Bill, Senators were expected to vote "YEA." - We support the right to bear arms, the establishment of concealed carry laws in Atlasian terrority, and prohibition of frivolous lawsuits.
* On the Pledge of Allegiance Bill, Senators were expected to vote "YEA." - We see no need for an official Pledge of Allegiance in Atlasia and support the right of citizens to recite the Pledge, if they wish to do so, as they see fit.
* On the Declaration of Candidacy Bill, Senators were expected to vote "NAY." - We support the right of any person who wishes to run for office to do so without posting in the Declaration of Candidacy Thread.

Interesting results, Senator Ebowed.  Thanks for compiling them.

Interesting, too, that the leader of this group tied for the lowest score in the Senate from this very group. Sad

On another note, the ACLC will be holding its convention very soon.  Details are imminent.

It means nothing, Senator; you only had two civil liberties bills to vote on. Wink

I find it deeply upsetting so many of our Senators support these civil liberties things. We need a fascist this October. Elect me, and I promise a 0% score.

Jake, I believe if you had voted on those five bills you would have a score of 60% or even 80%. Tongue

It's weird that the District Senators have much better records than the Regional Senators.

I know it's been a while, but for the sake of maintaining some semblance of an organized group, I'm opening a vote soon on endorsements for this weekend's elections.  Caucus members and candidates, feel free to make the case for the candidate of your choice in this thread.

I urge this caucus to endorse me because of my strong stances against freedom everywhere. I promise to promote inequality and bigotry in every debate and stand up for freedom hating prudes everywhere.

We don't need to elect you senator to do that. You've done that without a job.

I could have sworn that I was a member of this caucus.  I was in its first incarnation, I am pretty sure.  Either way, I wish to become a member now, if that is all right.

And we won't be just like the real ACLU, I don't think, Alcon.  We'll maintain tact and diplomacy in situations where the real ACLU seems to just go ballistic.

Sounds like the Joe Lieberman version of the ACLU.  Claim to stand for values and then let them get trampled upon.

Well great!  Welcome, new members!

This group hasn't been especially active lately.  I'd like to see us get together again; if anyone has any ideas, please post them here.

I think the groups too big. Maybe if we made the breakdown between regions larger we could work seperately on local issues and together on national. I think smaller groups would make it easier to run. Just a suggestion.

Well, if the ACLC is still active, I would like to join... If it isn't I would like to see if anyone would be interested in reactivating the ACLC...

Thank you.

I don't think we need an ACLU, and they will just clog up, the court system
