Turkey would be the biggest 'real' (non-oil) economy in the middle east.  Though I'm sure Isreal has more 'industry' as far as anything up to date and competitive.
Turkey is not really a midlle eastern country, I mean they are European...

Yeah they're kind of in between.  I think they're dreaming if they think they'll get into the EU though.
If Cyprus is getting in next week, Turkey will in a few years

Cyprus will veto Turkey's application.

Why would the economy be a problem? We brought in all the Eastern European countries...and Europe's economy is gonna be doing badly for a long, long time anyway.

More countries to get into the oil for food scandal? We wonder why France and Russia were such big opponents of the war and now we found out they were getting billions in kickbacks. And Kerry wants to go to these guys to get their "support".
