Campaign Schedule Part 1: March 16-22 (Weekly "Schedule"), Ads, Campaign Staff

Week of March 16 - March 22

Suzan DelBene, Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste, MP Patty Murray, and Premier Jay Inslee, survey the damage from the March 13 windstorm in Skagit County.

Suzan DelBene splits the week between her district and DC, spending most of the time in her district listening to constituents who were affected by the March 13 windstorm. She does not campaign in Washington between March 16 and 22, focusing on responding to constituent needs instead. While in DC, DelBene speaks in Parliament to call for more funding of disaster relief programs and more funding of meteorological research.

DelBene's campaign staff construct minor campaign offices in Alaska, Arizona, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Oregon, California, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Staffers and volunteers in all campaign offices, major and minor, conduct a voter outreach program that consists of phonebanking, mailing leaflets, registering voters, and trying to attract new volunteers. More campaign resources are allocated to these efforts in AZ, WI, PA, NY, and CA.

DelBene records and releases a new TV ad, "The Science of Climate Change." The ad will be played nationally beginning on March 21.

Ad #5: The Science of Climate Change

I am saddened and shocked by the recent news from our party leader and my huge friend, Mr. Bernie Sanders, who was diagnosed with cancer. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. I respect his decision to end his re-election bid, facing a risky surgery next month. This also means that Bernie Sanders, our long-standing leader and patron of the Progressive Party, puts and end to his political career.

The absence of Bernie Sanders in our political process means a great loss for America. Bernie is a man who always gives so much and asks for so little. His focus on social grievances ans injustices in our country has made our party what it is today, and brought diversity and different ideas into our political spectrum. I worked with him for the last four years as deputy leader of the progressive party. He was not just a professional colleague, he has become a huge friend of mine during the last years.

I just had a long phone call with Bernie Sanders. I expressed my deepest sorrow and compassion, and I wished him all the best in the name of the whole Warren campaign. We also talked about the future of the Progressive Party and the leadership elections. I am very proud that Bernie has endorsed me to continue his work and to become the next leader of our great party. I am honored and deeply moved by his endorsement. Although we have been competitors during the last three months in the leadership election, we both agreed on the fact that this was neither the expression of disregard of the service of the other, nor was it an expression of open criticism or antipathy towards one of the competitors in the leadership election. The fact the progressive voters are able to decide out of a broad field of candidates is solely the expression of lived intra-party democracy.

I will work hard to convince the former supporters of Bernie Sanders that they can trust him when he says that I am the right person to uphold his legacy. The endorsement of Bernie means very much to me, but the endorsements and the confidence of his supporters mean much more. Together, we can continue his fight for a new and better America, for an America which provides wealth, security and prosperity not just for a few, but for all people in this country.

Thank you.

"Bernie is a man who always gives so much and asks for so little."- Elizabeth Warren. Thank you, Bernie.

Campaign Schedule Part 1: March 30-April 5 (Weekly "Schedule"), Ads, Campaign Staff

Week of March 30 - April 5

Suzan DelBene splits the week between her district and DC. While in DC, DelBene speaks in Parliament, expressing her gratitude towards Bernie Sanders for all of the work that he did as Progressive leader. Out of respect for Bernie, DelBene does not hold any in-person campaign events until April 6.

DelBene's campaign staff continue their work and construct minor campaign offices in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, Indiana, Nebraska, Kentucky, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and California.

Staffers and volunteers in all campaign offices, major and minor, conduct a voter outreach program that consists of phonebanking, mailing leaflets, registering voters, and trying to attract new volunteers. Staffers in potentially competitive districts also try to encourage general election turnout. More campaign resources are allocated to these efforts in WI, PA, NY, OR, CA, and NJ.

DelBene records and releases a new TV ad, "Revitalizing Our Economy." The ad will be played in the following states beginning on March 31:

Campaign Schedule April 6th - April 12th

April 6th:
- press conference
- fundraiser brunch in Jersey City, NJ
- rally in Jersey City, NJ
- rally in Wilmington, DE
- rally in Baltimore, MD

"Now it has happened. Today, Sigmundur Davíd Gunnlaugsson, Prime Minister of Iceland, announced his retirement, following huge protests due to accusations which refer to the panama papers. After a wave of indignation which started just a week ago,  the first heads begin to roll. Years of fraud, deceit and conceit will come to an end. This is not just a minor issue, the panama papers are the begin of the biggest financial scandal since the financial crisis of 2008. It is a shame, that our economical and political process show still a lack of transparency and a lack of community-orientated acting. We've not come a long way since.
I demand a complete clarification of what has happened the last years and who and which countries have been – knowingly and unknowningly – involved in this process.  Therefore, I propose the house to set up a committee of inquiry to perform the tasks I named. The people not just in this country, but all the people in the world, the people who work hard and pay their taxes as they should have been betrayed by those who already have more than enough. But there is also another conclusion we can drawn from the events in Iceland. Due to the huge protests, the people around the globe have been reminded that democracy means power of the people, by the people and for the people!"

April 7th:
- meet with NAACP and Ben Jealous in Baltimore, MD
- meet and greet in Columbia, MD
- rally with Seth McFarlane in Philadelphia, PA
- campaign event with Seth McFarlane in Allentown, PA
- rally with Sarah Silverman in Binghampton, NY

"Bernie Sanders has made the Progressive Party great. Now he's backing the candidate to lead it into the next government."

April 8th:
- discuss campagn strategy with senior staffers, built up campaign structure in the North-East
- campaign through New York City with Mark Ruffalo, Sarah Silverman, Seth McFarlane, Ben Jealous and John Samuelsen (TWU 100)
- rally in New York City

"Shame on Premier Pat McCroy and his misanthropic and unjustifiable policies! His conservative administration is not just offensive, it is also an insult against humanity. Thanks to Premier McCroy, grown-up men who might be born in female bodies, but who look like men and act like men are now forced to share the bathroom with little girls. Thanks to Premier McCroy, thousands of our young teenagers, who are struggling with their real identity are discouraged and feel excluded by our society and our political system. Thanks to Premier McCroy, the amount of LGBT-teenager who commit suicide – which is already really high – is very likely to rise again. And why? Because he wants to satisfy his party!
This is a message to all young girls and boys in this country, who just discovered that they are different than the others, who have been hiding this for years and who are still unsure about their identity. Let me be clear: You are perfect the way you are, all doors are clearly open for you, and when I'm leader of the Progressive Party, I will fight to ensure that everyone treats you with the right amount of respect and appreciation you deserve. Anyone in this country who does not understand what it is like to take the impressive courage to tell their parents, siblings, friends and classmates that they are gay, lesbian or trans, anyone who has never talked with such a person who experienced that massive fear, anyone who doesn't should not be allowed to tell those people how they should love, act, dress or what bathroom they have to use!"

April 9th:
- campaign event in Yonkers, NY
- rally in Newburgh, NY
- interview on NBC News
- rally in Pittsburgh, PA
- rally in Monroeville, PA

April 10th:
- campaign event in Greensburg, PA
- campaign event in Johnstown, PA
- campaign event in Troy, NY
- meet and greet in Saratoga Springs, NY

"If some people in other parties tell you that other countries are laughing at us, then they are completely right. They are laughing at us. But not because this country has lost its strength or economical or scientificial lead, but because the people who tell you it has have such a great success. They want America to do everything on its own, but the truth is, that you can not achieve anything without allies, neither in international politics, nor in private live. America should make allies rather than enemies. The world we live in is too dangerous to try to do everything alone. Whether it's building up a stable economy, whether it's fighting against international terrorism, whether it is fighting against poverty and hunger. We need to talk with  international partners who share the same values and begin to form alliances, which go beyond the NATO. I am talking about Canada, who have always been a reliable partner for America. But I am also talking about Mexico, a country which has to be our friend, considering geographical and economical factors. And I am talking about Australia, New Zealand, and, last but not least, the European Union, one of the greatest project mankind has ever created. The European Union isn't perfect and has done many, many faults. But its idea – unifying the people of Europe after their political leaders have tried to divide them – is truly honorable. Together, we can fight for progress and democracy for everyone on this planet."

April 11th:
- rally with Tammy Baldwin in Eau Claire, WI
- campaign event with Tammy Baldwin in Black River Falls, WI

New surrogates hit the campaign trail!

John Samuelsen
President of New York Transport Workers Union

“Elizabeth Warren has her heart at the right place. She has understood that workers can live without millionaires, but millionaires can never live without workers. We put our heart and huge effort in our job to make this country a better place to live. Elizabeth Warren is the first politician to appreciate our work and to make live easier for us.”

Ben Jealous
Former President of the NAACP

“Racism is still an issue today. Segregation is still an issue today. Violence is still an issue today. Elizabeth Warren is not just totally aware of the fact, is also the person fight against structural racism in our society, and the person to bring peace and prosperity to all people in this country.”

Sarah Silverman
Actress

“It might be easy for me as a person who has neither experienced existential trouble nor anxiety about future to tell a whole country what to vote for. But I strongly believe that Elizabeth Warren could save millions of Americans from poverty. Even if I have to reach deeper into my pockets because I am a high-income earner. It is totally worth it.”

Seth McFarlane
Producer and Filmmaker

“I supported Bernie. He dropped out. But does this mean that I have to be absent from all political activities? Bernie's a clever man. He's done so much for the Progressive Party. And I trust him when he endorses Elizabeth Warren. I believe that she is the one to uphold his legacy and to lead the Progressive Party into a better future.”

Updated TV-ads

"Our Community"

The Northeast of our country is unique. No other region in America has managed to save its rural communities and become a symbol of progress and American values. The hardworking men and women can count on the solidarity of the community. It is an attitude which made this region strong.

[...]

But our political leaders are trying hard to destroy the boundaries which have been developed for centuries. The selfish policies form the Conservative Party has lead to exclusion of blacks, gays and women from our society. They claim to save the American values but don't realize that they have betrayed them.

[…]

It is time to act. Help me to save our values and everything we have built up so far. We are strong when our community is strong.

[…]

I'm Elizabeth Warren, and I approve this message.

To be aired in:

"Our workers"

America didn't became strong because of the big companies and billionaires, but because of the millions of workers who have put their heart in their job. We are standing on a secure ground, built by the men and women who have worked their whole life to make our country the strongest country in the world. We have to maintain and save this tradition.

[…]

In the last years, more and more politicians have tried to dismantle the unions in this country and to disgrace the workers who give our society so much and ask for so little. Our leaders, who are funded by billionaires who are levering out our democracy don't care about the workers. They only care about their profit and their record.

[…]

It is time to vote for someone who has the courage to stand up against the alliance of politicians and billionaires who fight against those people who make the country what it is today. Elizabeth Warren is the person to secure the workers' rights and to save and create new jobs.

[…]

I'm Elizabeth Warren, and I approve this message.

Launch of the national campaign "Stand Up"

Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow Americans,

I am sure that this announcement I will present you today is really surprising for the most of you. But the object of my speech is a really important one.

During my leadership campaign, I have traveled a lot through this country, and I have talked to a lot of people. I have talked to people who don't need to have fears about their future but who do have. And I have talked to people who are optimistic and make the best of their, to be honest, hopeless situation. But I have also met people who have given up and can not see any light in their live, due to financial burden and inhuman working conditions. But the most shocking reports I get to hear are the reports about discrimination of minorities and specifically.

Racism and discrimination have increased. That is not what the government tells you, it's what the people who have to struggle with racism every day tell you. Discriminating rhetoric and politicians have cleared the path to bigotry, racism and violence in this country. People are inferior because of their skin color and the origin of their ancestors, because of their gender, because of their sexual orientation or sexual identity. We are on the way to destroy everything we have built up since 1964. This is not what America should be about.

Politics can make racism a taboo. But change can not just be decided in Washington, DC. Change has to happen in our hearts, in our streets, in our towns, in our communities. I want to encourage everyone in this country to not accept racism, bigotry and violence in their neighborhoods. I want you to make everyone in this country clear, that these are not American values and that there is not place for them in our country. I want to encourage you to stand up.

This is what this campaign will be about.

This campaign, which will operate in all 50 states, is funded by the Warren-campaign, but is self-sufficient in its organization and its content. Both campaigns will work together intensively. However, I want to encourage everyone who is with me when I say that we have to do everything we can to fight racism, bigotry and discrimination to join the campaign.

Let's stop the hate and start an era of fraternity and solidarity.

Thank you. - Elizabeth Warren
