Looks like Khan sunk Trump deep. I don't think he can recover to the point of even tying.

These results are kind of a big deal. The norm may be settling in. At some point, doing okay/righting the ship won't get Trump anywhere. He'll have to really go above and beyond/have Hillary really sink.

I'm just waiting until Correct the Record announces ad buys in Arizona and Georgia.  Then, we'll know the race is absolutely over.

Big thing here is Clinton's favorables. The article says 46%, which might be a typo, but clicking on the link to the poll itself shows Clinton's favorability rating at 48-50, just 2 points net negative. According to the poll, her rating in June was 42-55. Meanwhile, Trump's favorability is 34-63 (29 points net negative).

Also, favorable or unfavorable impression of:

Mike Pence: 38-26 (+12)

Tim Kaine: 41-24 (+17)

Bill Clinton: 56-38 (+18)

Melania Trump: 33-39 (-6)

If I assume undecideds split evenly, I plugged the demographics into the 538 demographic calculator, made some assumptions about turnout and I got a 55%-43% result.

Let's face it, Trump isn't going to do any better than Romney with non-whites so it's all about the white vote. But if he can't find a way to improve with educated whites and/or white women, this election is over.  The RNC should have been his opportunity to do that, but all it seemed to do was help him with the non-college white guys who already loved him.

Wow, that Clinton favorable number is huge.
Also moderately surprised by the pence favorable.  He's done well for himself so far but I'd have thought just association with Trump would be enough to put him below water.

These cross tabs are just devastating for Trump. She leads him on every "who do you trust" metric and over two-thirds state he doesn't have the temperament to serve. I think these characteristics of temperament and personality are baked in to the electorate now. And 60% of the electorate, 46% strongly, feel that Trump is biased against women and minorities. Wow.

Absolutely.  As much as we ridicule Trump, we really should be more gracious to him.  Nobody else could have given us the opportunity to not only secure a third consecutive presidential term, but also win the senate, and maybe even the house.  We would not be so gleeful right now if Kasich or Rubio were the nominee.

There's a lot of ground here that Trump can't overcome. Everything from personality/temperament and political correctness to even the idea of a President Trump is too solidly negative. If the Khan story didn't cause a dent, it certainly solidified a lot of peoples opinions about him

The RNC have a lot of making over to do if they want to convince the electorate that Trump is better outside of "He's not Crooked Hillary and doesn't use E-mails". Attacking Obama wouldn't help much and the latest Iran story has already been buried by the Olympics. 3 months to go, but it's looking more like 1996 than 2012.
