DTW to LAS last night. First time flying!

Congrats!

For me I've traveled by plane twice this year, so far.

What happened at MCI?

2017
January: ORD-LAS; LAS-SFO-ORD.
March: ORD-DEN and return; SPI-DFW-CAE; CAE-ORD-SPI (yet to complete).

Maps or it didn't happen Wink

I expanded the definition of the OP. I count airports as in the terminal or on the tarmac. I picked up someone at gate 50. Here's the map. Tongue

On my last flight I was next to a woman returning home to the Catskills from a visit to family on a farm in eastern MT. Her flights that day went Glasgow-Billings-Denver-Chicago-Albany with significant drives at both ends. Yet she managed it all on one day.

In Jan I flew ORD-SNA and back. Early this month I went SPI-DFW-DEN and returned the same way. Now I'm in the midst of my flights to see HI, sitting by Kapalua Beach as I write this. I got here by ORD-SEA-SFO-KOA. Then KOA-OGG to get to Maui ( I got to JHM not to fly but to star gaze). Here's the island itinerary thread and relies.

I'll be there 4 weeks from today, so I'll let you know if I agree with your sentiment.
Wow, that's off the beaten path. It's literally connected to the rest of the island by a mule path. You might be the first forum member to ever visit there.

I was there about a year ago. You also can hike the trail, and there’s even an airport with scheduled passenger service.

I have reservations to fly in to Molokai in the early morning, hike the trail down, take the tour, then fly out. I've seen the flight from Kaluapapa to Kaunakakai on Molokai described as the shortest scheduled passenger flight - it's only 9 miles by air. From the main Molokai airport I'll fly back to Maui that same afternoon.

I'll be making these flights, starting on the Big Island and moving west over two weeks. I wouldn't miss the chance to see all 5 counties in HI, even Kalawao.

Wow, you'll have been to nearly as many Hawai'i airports I have by the time your trip is done! (I haven't flown Kaluapapa (I took the mule option) but I have flown Kapalua on west Maui and Hilo on the Big Island.

You're especially going to love MKK, I think; there's no security at all, and the airlines are more like bus routes in their approach to filling seats and accommodating walk-ups.

Though I'm staying just minutes from Kapalua airport, and there are plenty of flights from there to HNL, the cost of returning the car there instead of at OGG made it cost ineffective.

Mar (2): ORD-SEA-SFO-KOA; KOA-OGG; OGG-MKK; LUP-MKK-OGG; OGG-HNL; HNL-LIH; LIH-SEA-ORD
May: MCO-CLT-PNS; PNS-MCO

My travel next week should be my last of 2018, except for a pick up at Christmas.

Jan: ORD-SNA; SNA-ORD
Mar (1): SPI-DFW-DEN; DEN-DFW-SPI
Mar (2): ORD-SEA-SFO-KOA; KOA-OGG; JHM; OGG-MKK; LUP-MKK-OGG; OGG-HNL; HNL-LIH; LIH-SEA-ORD
May: MCO-CLT-PNS; PNS-MCO
Jun: MSY pick up only
Jul: MSP pick up only
Oct: normally I would fly to Vail, but I took the train instead this year
Nov: BOS-ORD
Dec: CVG-BWI; BWI-CVG; MCI pick up and drop off only

This is the detail of flights in HI

It comes to 18,633 air miles, which is pretty good for me as a mostly road guy.

I've surprisingly had no flights the first half of 2019. That changes this week with a flight ORD-BOS for my daughter's wedding. I also booked my first international flights in some time for September: ORD-MAD-MUC; MUC-CLT-ORD. That will add a new airport for me and a new airline, Iberia.

I'm posting this from RSW in Ft Myers as I prepare to return to Chicago/ORD. As I noted earlier I flew to BOS in Jul and I have an international flight booked for later this month. I anticipate a Denver flight on Oct.

Jan (pre COVID): ORD-SAN; SAN-ORD

Aug: ORD-MSP-SEA-FAI; FAI-BTT-FAI; FAI-SEA-ORD (Got a negative result on a SARS-CoV2 test to comply with AK travel rules; Bettles Airport brought me north of the Arctic Circle for the first time)

Upcoming (flights ticketed)
Nov: ORD-MHT; MHT-ORD (currently in a 2-week self-quarantine to comply with NH travel rules)

Dec: ORD-DFW-BRO; BRO-DFW-ORD

The flights to and from Fairbanks AK were booked as non-stop from and to MSP. However, COVID caused the airlines to drop many flights, and the only connection left was through SEA.

I had other flights to Charlottesville VA (booked), Phoenix (booked), Seattle (booked), and Portland (not booked) all cancelled due to SARS-CoV2. The flights to Manchester NH and Brownsville TX came by rebooking the canceled tickets without penalty.

I made my first flights this year last month: ORD-SLC; SLC-PHX-ORD. I have one more trip booked in Oct/Nov to RNO.

Edit: My RNO flights have been changed and they are now ORD-RNO; RNO-LAX-ORD

Not a lot of flying this year. Just three trips, all within the lower 48.

2022 is shaping up to be a more active flying year with trips to Alaska, Vancouver, and Iceland in the works plus a couple of shorter trips.

Whereabouts in Alaska are you headed?

I'm flying to Anchorage and taking a cruise from Whittier AK to Vancouver with 3 intermediate ports and two additional glaciers by sea. If they follow the expected route, I'll pick up all the boroughs in the Panhandle. If I get to Anchorage early, I may take a day trip to some remote location like Nome.

It's 2022 now, so here is a flight that I have booked for this summer.  My first trip outside of North America, and my first international trip in over 20 years.

Cool. I have the same flight booked in Aug.

10 flights through 8 airports for a total of 9,348 miles flown.

BWI-SJU-MCO-BWI
BWI-AUS-BWI

With 11 flights through 9 airports and 11,061 miles, it's rare that I've done more flying than you nearly halfway through the year.

Nice projection Wink

I know! I've been pretty sedentary this year and/or taken trains rather than flying. Will be flying to the BVI in November and possibly Provincetown/Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket in September, but otherwise no additional plans to fly at the moment. O_o

My only future ticketed flight is to Iceland in Aug. I'm thinking that should fit well on the projection.

On the land side I hope you are still planning on Hampton in July.

ORD-BOS; BOS-ORD

May
ORD-ANC; ANC-OME; OME-OTZ-ANC; YVR-DEN-ORD

Jun
ORD-DCA-BOS; BOS-TVC-ORD

The idea of a layover in Traverse City MI had never occurred to me, but my nonstop BOS-ORD was canceled and the alternate route showed up as the soonest in my app's rebooking choices. I found I was not the only one using TVC as a layover, there was another traveler stuck from DFW to ORD who only found a seat by using TVC.

Booked:
Aug ORD-KEF; KEF-ORD

I just completed my first flight of the year: BOS-DCA-ORD.

Later this month I'll be in Portland OR: ORD-DFW-PDX; PDX-PHX-ORD. This will be my first flight into OR making it my 41st state with a take off or landing.

My upcoming flights this year look to have at least three multi-city trips.

To recap this was Jan:
BOS-DCA-ORD (returning from a trip over New Year's)
ORD-DFW-PDX; PDX-PHX-ORD

I just booked an Apr weekend in ME using Amtrak for Boston to Brunswick:
ORD-BOS; PWM-DCA-ORD

My tentative plan for May involves a trip to CO with a return to catch up to my family on the road:
ORD-DEN; DEN-CLT-TYS

In Jul I have a stay reserved in France followed by a visit to see friends in Germany:
ORD-???-LYS; MUC-???-ORD
