I think he doesn't, and that's the reason for the question mark at the end of his forum name.

Of course I do. What I don't take seriously is half the tripe out of the mouths of the left on here. Your Alinsky-like tactics will not work on me.

I didn't want to reuse the word 'rule.'  The obvious rule here being the expectation of attributing who you're quoting.

The Rapist Trump campaign also used Queen's "We are the Champions" yesterday even though the surviving members have told them to stop and may even have asked for a cease and desist order.

Clearly these speakers are lying when they say that Rapist Trump 'plays by the rules.'

The RNC legally licensed use of "We Are the Champions" at the convention.  Queen has no legal right to object.

They can object if they want to.  Happens all the time.

Queen can yell to the rooftops that they object to Trump or the RNC using the song, but there is no way that they can receive a cease or desist order or legally sue for the RNC playing it.  The RNC has legally paid them to use it in the arena.

According to the comments section it's disputed exactly what the Rapist Trump campaign paid for.  Did they also pay for the song to be used at his rallies?

Apparently Buckley, who wrote the article, also co-wrote the speech.

I'm seeing this now too.

Yeah, this isn't really that bad at all

Its self plagiarism which is still a major academic thing
I'm looking for the classroom that the RNC is being held in.

Any college educated person whom isnt an idiot or academic thief should and many do care
No. They really shouldn't. It's political rhetoric at the end of the day. It gets recycled all the time.

An attack and ridicule because of my beliefs, which obviously differ from 90% of the red, "independent" and faux "blue" avatars on this board.

This just sounds like another much ado about nothing. Too bad that the guy who wrote the speech didn't give himself credit where credit was due. His bad.

Okay, so we agree?

Let's not get into shaming women this time around.

100% agreed, Melania got screwed over by someone in the campaign or she did something rather idiotic at the last minute

Runs in the family.

Yeah... but it's not genetic because we have like half of Eastern Europe spitting out babies for this "family".  Am'right?

1) It's the RNC that paid for the use at the RNC.  I have no idea whether the Trump campaign separately licensed the songs' use at his rallies.

2) The RNC isn't broadcasting the convention, at least on TV.  It is up to the networks to decide what to broadcast on their channels.  They can bleep out all music if they wish.  But the networks would likely argue fair use because it is a newsworthy event.

Of course they did. Professional campaigns buy the rights to songs all the time. Most of the time, when a (usually) left-leaning band objects and sends a "cease and desist" letter, the campaigns have perfect legal authority to continue to play the songs. However, they stop using the song for optics/political reasons.

I grade politicians on their educational skill partially,  I know many on both sides that do as well.

There is a reason a good chunk of people wouldnt vote for someone like Walker for example due his lack of education.

Also it shows completely poor optics and planning considering the other day.

OK, fair enough.  I was wrong that We Are the Champions was improperly used at the Convention, but you acknowledge you don't know if Rapist Trump has used songs at his rallies, including We Are the Champions, without permission.

One ironic thing is that the song actually mocks the idea of 'winning' and mocks people like Rapist Trump.

Eh I don't care about self plagiarism as much, not as big of a deal as what was undeniably plagiarism from Monday night. It is fun seeing the knots that people like Seriously tie themselves into trying to defend such actions though. Remember, if you don't have a response, just fall back on complaining about avatar colors.

Side note can we please not say things like "Rapist Trump"?

Funny, that's the last thing I consider when I grade a politician. In fact, I am turned off by Harvard/Yale cabal that has been running this country since Reagan.

Don't know if many will see Donald Jr's issue as an educational one.  Optics?  Yes.  Education?  Doubt it.

There is a reason a good chunk of people wouldnt vote for someone like Walker for example due his lack of education.

It's not simply a lack of education.  It's a lack of plausible explanation for lack of education.

Also it shows completely poor optics and planning considering the other day.

Ding, ding, ding!!!  We have a winner.

When Rapist Trump stops calling Hillary Clinton 'Crooked Hillary" and stops his name calling of Elizabeth Warren, I'll stop referring to Rapist Trump as "Rapist Trump."

Obligatory reminder that comments sections are not a reliable source to make a charge on. The internet is YUGE, you could probably find a comments section claiming just about anything you wanted to believe.

I will also note that no one is ever arrested for self-plagiarism, it's relevant in academia only. Even in academia it's often considered a separate universe from typical plagiarism and called "multiple submission". No one cares if a speechwriter for articles and convention speakers uses the same phrasing across multiple speeches, they're not seeking a degree. If this is considered plagiarism worth "criminalizing" someone over, than so is every political stump speech that has ever existed.

Knots? It's called realism. If you comb through most speeches, you will see appropriation. There is a lot of recycling in politics.

No, it's f***ing laughable is what it is. I bet you just about every speech tonight has elements from somewhere else. And next week, at the sh**t show known as the Democrat National Convention, the same thing will happen.

It's politics. sh**t gets recycled all the time.

This "plagiarism" meme is tripe and tired already.

Can you stop knee jerk screaming "MEDIA!!!!" everytime Donnie f#$ks up again, you bootlicking asskisser?

And when it happens, people are often and rightly called out for it. There is recycling, and then there is straight up lifting entire paragraphs.
