It's not going to go anywhere anytime soon, but now we have some examples of what Democrats will do if they get the chance.

Democrats taking this seriously might be on of the few positives Trump had brought.

Isn't it amazing that making voting more accessible has the tendency to hinder Republicans?

Don't overestimate the impact of early voting, however. Studies have shown that early voting results aren't that reliable at predicting the actual winners in many races.

Remember how people were saying that states like FL and NC were virtual locks for Hillary in 2016 due to her early voting advantage in those states? In the case of NC, it turned out that her early voting advantage was less than that of Obama in 2012 (and Obama lost NC that year).

Well, Nevada has tended to be the exception to that rule.

The reason NV's early vote is more predictive is that a massive proportion of the vote is cast early relative to other states.

Great news but NV voting laws aren't that restrictive. No voter ID, 17 year olds could vote in primaries, has early voting.

This.  Plus online registration, and as of last year’s successful ballot initiative, automatic registration at the DMV.

Yeah, as others have said, NV is the one state where EV is consistently predictive due to the vast share of the vote that’s cast early.

This is fine other than sams day registration

I hate CA’s multiple mail-in system, that makes or easy for the votes to not be processed. Even though. I think you should register at least a month before the election, have a Photo ID, and absentee ballots should be mailed to your voting processor, before Election Day. Votes should not be being processed after Election Day. This is the kind of stuff that drags out elections, long after they’re done.

I didnt know where to post this, but I thought I would share:

For anyone confused, the bill is basically the typical Voting Rights bills the Ds have been pushing around the country. NV has some of the most restrictive voting laws, and it has impacted D performance(since Hispanics are a rather key part of the D coalition here). With this change in voting laws, NV could see a rather quick march towards the Left.
Surprise surprise, the party in power takes steps to help themselves win elections.

Yes, because it is clearly a partisan hack position to think...that people eligible to vote should easily be able to vote.

Surprise surprise, the party in power takes steps to help themselves win elections.

Actually, automatic voter registration was already approved by the people themselves via ballot initiative, so that basically makes same-day registration much less important. If it's like other SDR implementations, you'd need a certain kind of identification to register, and providing a license would mean you should already be registered (after 3-5 years of AVR registering people, anyway).

Believe it or not, there is actually a large movement of people on the left who want to level the playing field and make voting as accessible as it can be for everyone, regardless of which party it benefits. So the vast majority of the support from the people themselves is genuine.

That being said, there are clearly a lot of Democratic lawmakers who may agree with voting reforms on principle but still push them because they believe it will benefit the party in some way. Doesn't make the policy wrong, though.
