I have to say, it worries me because this speech seems pretty effective.

It's empty preaching to the choir. It lacks what fire he normally has, and lacks substance. (Although I think he just promised to ban immigration from France.)

Why make the speech about crime? How is going hard on crime going to win over swing voters when it's at a historic low??
He's speaking to the GOP base, who believes that crime has gone up, unemployment up, deportations down, and the stock market down under Obama even though the opposite is true. They live in an alternate reality.

I'm not a Republican, but haven't you seen Ferguson?

Again, it's the same logic as those who think it snowing one day means climate change isn't real. Weather is isolated day to day and climate the trend.

I just want to feel safe.

You could start by listening to facts, thinking rationally, and not clinging to racist demagogues (aka pants).

But I guess that's too much to ask.

It sounds like Trump has never practiced giving this speech before in this manner. Far more stilted and hesitant than normal, probably because he's afraid he'll get criticized too much if he goes off script when everyone is watching

How so? He's rattled off a bunch of stats and been all over the place with the theme.
The base eats that up and the past few elections have been essentially "get out the base" contests.

Maybe it's irrational on my part.

It is, but issue is they don't have the horses to compete anymore.

If D's machine is working, they are going to win.

I'm glad Trump is capable of mind reading, so that he can tell which potential immigrants love and hate America.

Absolutely wonderful speech. Trump is delivering with excellence.

It's a vile, hate-filled and dangerous speech. Devoid of anything except fear and playing to the most base and backward nature of people.

This **** must be defeated.

Where are the details to any part of this speech? There have been zero policy proposals.

Queer, which to a lot of people isn't a slur any more (although to a lot of people it still is, and those people tend to hate its addition to The Acronym).

The term 'queer' is sometimes used in place of LGBT(Q), as it is an umbrella term.  The term is controversial within the community, and is more accepted by younger LGBTQ people, as older members of the community are more likely to remember it as exclusively a slur.

As a bisexual person, I'm still not sold on Trump or the GOP, despite the moments of this speech and Thiel.  That platform reeks.

I guess "build a wall" is all we're gonna get on that point.

Trump will be hoisted on his own petard with the "we don't want them in our country" line in a couple of really good attack ads

This was the worst speech of the night.

Thiel, Barrack, and Ivanka all gave significantly better speeches.

Absolutely wonderful speech. Drumpf is delivering with excellence.

If you liked that, I hear there's an absolutely electric totalitarian regime in North Korea right now that you might like.

Top kek bro. I'll have to check it out after my vacation in libertarian paradise Somalia.

Is this going to be the longest acceptance speech in a while? I think Obama and Romney's were only like 45 minutes.

Any speech longer than 45 minutes tunes the audience out
