Yeah. I definitely thought that Clinton calling him out would take the wind of his sails but it seemed to have the opposite effect. It now seems that Trump's attempt to stand up for what he believes in has also backfired. Two swings and a misses in a row. It seems like a very strange campaign. People are very concerned about Trump yet they feel sorry for him and feel like Clinton is trying to tell them how to feel every time she raises those concerns.  Trump needs to go on the offensive but Clinton cannot afford to stay on the Defensive.

It seems that even a very slim victory by Trump could be seen as a "realignment" or an "unalignment".

In retrospect, I think the Trump = KKK speech/ad campaign was really dumb as it may have just pushed non-college whites more toward voting as a block.  Clinton's still up in the aggregate, but she can't afford a bad 1st debate like Obama.

So, basically we are heading towards a future where non-middle class whites (those whose educational achievement is in the bottom 70% or are in the top 1-5%) will  constitute an "ethnic" group? You could say the entire "religious right" thing was just a transitional phase towards this.  Is there a way this ends benignly?

Someone said Trumps bump today is mostly from a huge swing in black support, any truth to that?

Racially yes, alongside the polls heavily Trump Hispanic sample. The black support may just be a 'burp' as the same thing happened earlier in the track.

He also leads amongst 18-34 year olds by 4 points, which is also a fair jump.

The fundamentals of the tracking poll have always had these factors built into them.

So this poll shows that there is a lot of crossover voting that probably won't happen or that there is a realignment?
