Secretary of the Treasury:  Michael Bennet (CO)
Secretary of Defense:  Kirsten Gillibrand (NY)

A new and improved one that emphasizes party building:

President:  Elizabeth Warren (MA)
Vice President:  Julian Castro (TX)
Secretary of State:  Cory Booker (NJ)
Secretary of the Treasury:  Michael Bennet (CO)
Secretary of Defense:  Kirsten Gillibrand (NY)
Attorney General:  Kamala Harris (CA)
Secretary of the Interior:  Betty Sutton (OH)
Secretary of Agriculture:  Theresa Greenfield (IA)
Secretary of Commerce:  Pete Buttigieg (IN)
Secretary of Labor:  Mahlon Mitchell (WI)
Secretary of Health and Human Services:  Abdul El-Sayed   (MI)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:  Andrew Gillum (FL)
Secretary of Transportation:  Deborah Ross (NC)
Secretary of Energy:  Katie McGinty (PA)
Secretary of Education:  David Garcia (AZ)
Secretary of Veterans Affairs:  MJ Hegar (TX)
Secretary of Homeland Security:  Michelle Nunn (GA)

Choices reflect a handful of principles:
1.)  Focus on developing talent in swing states
2.)  Rewards candidates from previous cycles who ran good campaigns but came up short--hopefully establishes a precedent that will encourage future wavering politicians to commit
3.)  Opens up Senate seats in populous, solidly Democratic states (CA, NY, NJ) and creates opportunities for rising stars

This is what I believe to be the best government for the future of Israel as a united, majority Jewish, and democratic society. It would go a long way to mend the many schisms in our society between its many tribes, and be inclusive to the minorities inside it. It's an idea which is technically doable, but is exceedingly unrealistic, because it would require many actors to make logical but very hard-to-do concessions for politician egos. I believe that with the current results, the best government to preserve Israel as a united society, Jewish and Democratic, for years to come, is to create "a new contract" between the many different tribes and sects of Israeli society. These are he results of the Israeli election, for reference:

Kahol-Lavan (Benny Gantz)- 33 Seats
Likud (Benjamin Netanyahu)- 31 Seats
Joint Arab List (Ayman Odeh)- 13 Seats
Shas (Aryeh Deri)- 9 Seats
Yisrael Beiteinu (Avigdor Lieberman)- 8 Seats
United Torah Judaism (Ya'akov Litzman)- 8 Seats
Yamina (Ayelet Shaked)- 7 Seats
Labour-Gesher (Amir Peretz)- 6 Seats
Democratic Camp (Nitzan Horowitz)- 5 Seats

This coalition would have two main principles:

1. A compassionate social democratic economic policy to create equality of opportunities.

2. Advancing a serious negotiation for a peace agreement with the Palestinians and end to the military occupation. The rest would be a result of compromise and mutual understanding between the many parts of society. And this would be the composition:

1. Leading party:  Kahol-Lavan, a party that showed itself to have appeal to many parts of society, lead by a widely respected man. Lapid would need to give up on rotation and his strongly anti-Haredi stance. Gantz would be Prime Minister, Lapid Foreign Minister, Ashkenazi Defense Minister, Ya'alon Justice Minister.

2. The natural partners of Kahol-Lavan: the two parties to its left, which wouldn't be hard to convince to support these policies. Labour-Gesher would be given the Finance Ministry to Peretz and the Health Ministry to Levy; the Democratic Camp would be given the Education Ministry to Horovits, the Environmental Protection Ministry to Shaffir. Both would need to compromise on some policy goals, especially the latter.

3. The Haredim: UTJ and Shas, given the Home Office, Religious Affairs Ministry, and more. This would be a key plank of the new contract: we leave the Haredim at peace and stop trying to conscript them, we maintain funding to allow them to continue their way of life, we help their education system and have a mutual debate as to how we can help Haredi kids start with an equal opportunity at a career instead of trying to ram down things they don't want into their education system. In exchange change the religion-state status quo to give equality to other Judaism sects and LGBTQs, and we allow secular Isrselis to live their lives and have public transportation and open markets in Saturdays. We also implement the conversion reform that was previously agreed upon, a way to sooth the tension between the religious establishment and Russian Israelis. Live and let live.

4. The Arabs: Though the government has a bare majority without them, it should seek their support to expand it. Not only that, but doing so would be historic. The entire Joint List probably cannot enter a government and receive ministries yet, in exception of the three Balad MKs, it can support it from outside. This would be done in exchange for a new contract with the Arabs: implementing Ayman Odeh's demands of helping Arabs build up their villages and create a new city, take away the guns and work to stop violence in their midst, work towards a two state solution, and increase welfare by funding more shelters for victims of domestic violence and building a new hospital in an Arab city.

5. More planks to the contract which don't require political power: to help stop discrimination against the Ethiopian Jewish community, implement deep reforms to stop police violence; for the Russian community, implement immigration and religion and state reforms according to the contract with the Haredim.

And this would be the composition of the government:

Prime Minister: Benny Gantz (Kahol-Lavan)

Foreign Minister: Yair Lapid (Kahol-Lavan)
Defense Minister: Gabi Ashkenazi (Kahol-Lavan)
Deputy: Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism)
Finance Minister: Amir Peretz (Labour-Gesher)
     Deputy: Ya'akov Margi (Shas)
Justice Minister: Moshe "Bogie" Ya'alon (Kahol-Lavan)
Education Minister: Nitzan Horowitz (Democratic Camp)
Deputy: Meir Porush (United Torah Judaism)
Home Minister: Aryeh Deri (Shas)

Internal Security Minister: Orna Barbivai (Kahol-Lavan)
     Deputy: Pnina Tamano-Shata (Kahol-Lavan)
Health Minister: Orly Levy-Abekasis (Labour-Gesher)
Deputy: Ya'akov Asher (United Torah Judaism)
Economy and Industry Minister: Meshulam Nahari (Shas)
     Deputy: Moshe Arbel (Shas)
Labour, Welfare and Social Services Minister: Avi Nissenkorn (Kahol-Lavan)
Deputy: Ya'akov Tesler (United Torah Judaism)
Construction and Housing Minister: Ya'aKov Litzman (United Torah Judaism)
Transportation and Road Safety Minister: Ofer Shalah (Kahol-Lavan)
Environmental Protection Minister: Stav Shaffir (Democratic Camp)
Communications Minister: Miki Haimovich (Kahol-Lavan)
Culture and Sports Minister: Hili Tropper (Kahol-Lavan)
Agriculture and Rural Development Minister: Itzik Shmuli (Labour-Gesher)
Periphery, Negev and Galilee Development Minister: Michael Biton (Kahol-Lavan)
     Deputy: Yoav Ben-Tzur (Shas)

Tourism Minister: Yael German (Kahol-Lavan)

Social Equality Minister: Yair Golan (Democratic Camp
     Deputy: Karin Elharar (Kahol-Lavan)
Science and Technology Minister: Zvi Hauser (Kahol-Lavan)
Religious Affairs Minister: Yitzhak Cohen (Shas)
     Deputy: Michael Malchieli (Shas)

Speaker of the Knesset: Meir Cohen (Kahol-Lavan)
Chairperson of the Finance Committee: Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism)
Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee: Elazar Stern (Kahol-Lavan)
