Someone who thought Humphrey was better than Nixon for his pocket book in 68 but voted for Wallace because he agreed with him on both economic and social issues. Chooses his pocket book in 72 and votes McGovern with Wallace not on the ballot.

A rural farmer, either in Minnesota or the Dakotas. In South Dakota in 1968, Humphrey got 41.96%, and Wallace got 4.76%, while Nixon got 53.27%. In SD in 1972, McGovern got 45.52%, and Nixon had 54.15%. Since I doubt there were more than a couple Nixon/McGovern voters in SD, some McGovern 1972 voters there had to have voted for Wallace.

TL;DR: A rural farmer in South Dakota

A normally partisan Dixiecrat who was against the Vietnam War.

Or a northeastern liberal who was pissed at black people in 1968 for some reason and calmed down by 1972.

A Dixiecrat who could smell the corruption oozing out of Nixon from the first second of a press conference.
