Multiple sources reporting that while he made an initial offer to Pence, he hasn't made a "final, final" decision... Hasn't yet called Christie or Newt to tell them they're not it!

EDIT 7:48 PM: It was Trump himself that told Greta on Fox that he hasn't made a "final, final decision" then went on to praise all three.

I wonder if Trump will actually include Pence's name in the campaign's branding.

For obvious reasons. Campaign-wise, it's a smart move because the media will be focused on this attack and not his announcement. It also is respectful so I don't get how you can call this a "mess"

NBC's New York affiliate has video of Pence getting off a plane in New Jersey:

You need to change the thread title, Trump is now saying he hasn't picked Pence, or anyone.

You need to change the thread title, Trump is now saying he hasn't picked Pence, or anyone.

But numerous news outlets are saying that he's offered it to Pence, and that he's accepted.

And Trump himself is saying they're wrong, he's made no final offer.

Also, Gingrich and Christie are both already in New York City or nearby. And Trump praised Christie/Gingrich just an hour ago.

I would assume that’s his clumsy attempt at subterfuge, leading up to the “official” announcement.  Look, we were in a similar situation four years ago, when it was leaked that Romney had picked Ryan.  Numerous news outlets said that their sources told them that Romney had offered Ryan the job and he’d accepted, but many posters here didn’t believe it.

But whatevs.  I’ve changed the subject line to “Trump apparently picks Pence for veep”, to make it sound a bit less definitive.  Even if this is some kind of weird con, it’s still an “apparent” pick, since the news outlets are reporting it.

Trumps decision to postpone his announcement opens the door for a non pence vp because the deadline is tomorrow, he would have to drop out of the gubernatorial race by noon tomorrow giving away his selection before an official campaign announcement

Trump seems to be doubling down on the Republican base rather than attempt any sort of outreach. Hard to see that as a winning strategy.

Radio talk show host Michael Savage said today that Trump and Pence will be seen as two straight white males who can "clean things up" in the U.S. and it could appeal to minority voters. Listen to it at: 4:25.

CNN said the Supreme Court struck down ObamaCare, remember? Tongue They can be wrong. Especially when it comes to Trump. It's not a similar situation to Romney because Trump flat out went on TV and said they were wrong and he made no final offer. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in the Trump campaign honestly thought he picked Pence but misunderstood since Trump does things his own way.

Yeah, the news can be wrong. The Obamacare example is a great one.

Just because they've been right on leaks in the past, doesn't mean they will be this year.

Maybe he's trying to play it off as a non-final decision to the media even though Pence probably has already accepted. Why else would two Republican congressman file the paperwork today to run for governor?
