If the movement to free the gop delegates actually gathers steam and   in denying Trump the nomination, what would be the fallout from this? How would Trump react? Would he be able to successfully sue to be the nominee? This action would in effect disenfranchise the 13 million voters who supported Trump.

Are we looking at possible civil unrest in Cleveland were this to occur? What would Trump do in the meantime?

Major riots would take place around the convention and whole country and the political climate will be poisoned for months or years. Trump may sue the RNC, but likely without success. As I understand it, changing the rules and nuke him in Cleveland would be legal (even though undemocratic). However, I think it’s highly unlikely that this happens. The anti-Trump GOPers will sit out the election, focus on congressional races and arrange themselves with a Clinton presidency, at least for the next four years.

So would this shift public opinion to trumps favor? I mean, it's very undemocratic. Trump could run third party I guess

Unlikely, due to the ballot access deadlines in most states (let alone collecting signatures). That window has closed months ago.

The only possibility I can see is a hodgepodge of state right-leaning minor parties banding together and naming him their nominee.  But I don't think such a patchwork of parties can cover anywhere near the entire country.

If the Reform Party existed today in its late-90s incarnation, they would fall over backwards to claim him, and he would be on the ballot in every state.
