http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/11/politics/evan-bayh-senate-run/index.html

This is nuts, the primary was two months ago. Looks like he smelled blood in the water.

I know the conventional wisdom is that presidential candidates help out the downballot races and not the other way around, but Bayh is a popular guy in his state. Could he help turn out Democrats that otherwise wouldn't have bothered showing up?

Nope, IN is not in play. Targeting AZ and GA makes indeed more sense for Hillary.

No - just like Pence won't help Trump in IN.

If Pence has any effect at all in IN, it will be a negative one.

Having Pence of the ticket basically guarantees Indiana for Clinton, so this is a smart move.

Hillary won't win IN. Her Odds are far better in AZ, GA and especially in NC.

No, coattails generally work the other way around. Indiana will go for Trump, unless he completely collapses.

5% chance the floor falls out on Trump and Indiana goes Clinton, but it won't matter, because the map will look like this:

Clinton 405

It will help slightly, but I still don't think she can take Indiana (unless trump really stumbles).

Highly unlikely. Might win her a point, maybe 1.5 points but not enough to flip the state because Indiana is not super close

Yeah, NY and Cal were on one of these lists. Follow through will be necessary, and obviously resources are finite. He shouldn't need to give Ind much attention, but he will.

People way overestimate how popular Evan Bayh is. Not that he isn't popular, but he's not some god of Indiana politics. There will be a lot of Bayh Trump voters in places like Vermillion county.

No; she has a better shot in AZ, MO and GA. All of which she really should be going for; not just NC.

Indiana isn't as safe as people in this thread think it is, but no, Bayh will not help Clinton.

That's exciting news though, as much as I dislike Bayh.
