With the likelihood of Donald Trump picking Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his VP, what do you think of this ticket?

Solidifies Trump with the Conservative base, locking us further into the 2012 map. HT for Trump, probably FT for me?

(I'm still voting for Giant Meteor, but Trump probably shouldn't be president)

Not wise. Whites(male/female) are 70% of the electorate in 2016, white males are ~34%! This simply gives him a few more percent of the super religious white males.  This will probably scare off more non-whites, women and people that aren't religious.

Republicans have lost their minds.

Trump can say goodbye to the LGBTQ vote ( not that he had it much in the first place) the one minority group he had at least some potential to improve Romney with.

the guy is rabidly anti-LGBT - if you're a religious conservative I suppose you like this pick. If you are Hillary Clinton you love this pick - another segment of the population that Trump becomes divisive with.

HT, obviously. There's not much for anyone who's not an ultra-conservative to like about Pence.

Actually a strategically bad choice. He wins over people who would have held their nose for him in the end, and further alienates others.

Also I would note, having driven I-65 many times over my short lifetime (and had it claim a tire or two a disproportionate number of times) that I would NEVER vote to put an IN Governor or state legislator of the majority party a heartbeat away from appointing the Transportation Secretary.

Donald Trump should not pick Pence. He's incredibly unpopular here. Even Gingrich would be a better pick (although that's not saying much).

Donald Trump should not pick someone who is pro-choice (and this is coming from someone who is reluctantly pro-choice). A significant portion of Republicans vote on the issue of abortion alone. Religious conservatives already hate Donald Trump for not being "strongly" pro-life, picking Flynn would cause them to stay home at record levels. Not to mention that Flynn has no political experience. Donald Trump needs to pick someone with political experience if he wants to win.

Agreed, and I think Trump is bright enough to end up going with a better choice.

Some of his other picks, including Gingrich, seem kinda desperate. Pence seems a serious enough choice it makes the ticket more credible. Slightly.

Flynn seems a smart choice if the GOP can get past his being a pro-choice Dem. He'll make it seem like a law and order ticket, allay fears about Trump's "finger on the button." Unless Flynn comes across as nutty, of course.

I frankly don't know if he has many better choices.  All the A-listers, and even many B-listers like Corker, ruled themselves out, so it is inevitable that the person he chooses will be flawed in one way or another.  At least Pence gets some of the fundies that are ambivalent about Trump, but otherwise loyal to the GOP, on board.

Trump/Pence sounds weird since you have two "P" sounds next to each other.

HT, but there isn't anyone he could have chosen that would make it a FT for me.  It's not surprising Pence would be interested in this.  I remember back when he was in the House, he was constantly appearing on TV on all the politics shows.  He must really like attention.

Pence must be more unpopular than anyone realizes to leave a gubernatorial seat that is strong Republican for the less than 10% chance he'll actually win and be VP
