I know that Newt Gingrich is not from Florida but Georgia, Gingrich's home state, borders Florida. So if Gingrich is selected as Donald Trump's running mate, could it boost Trump in Florida?

Nobody in Florida would care that he is from Georgia. He's an angry old white guy who was relevant 20 years ago, and that won't matter to any swing voter.

I've never understood the border state argument. In this case it's even worse because Newt hasn't been relevant in years, young voters wouldn't even care. Most people probably don't follow a border state's politics unless it's a huge story getting national attention. You could maybe make a small argument if you're in a border media market, but even then I doubt that would have too much impact.

I know certain candidates might appeal more to their region, but a state as big and diverse as FL?
