Before this week, I would have leaned Trump (nobody's a bigger defender of Israel!) but after this whole Star of David debacle, I'm starting to have my doubts. Anecdotally, my one friend who fits this description seems to be leaning Clinton, albeit rather reluctantly. She supported Cruz in the primaries, IIRC.

Based on my totally scientific survey of my friends who think this way (crawling Facebook) they actually break down on party lines between HRC and NOTA. So I guess HRC, but not if they weren't Dems to begin with.

Donald Trump is a foreign policy imbecile with no understanding or nuance.  While it's possible he will appoint a Secretary of State who supports the right-wing, Zionist line and listen to him/her, is that a risk that a hard-line Zionist is willing to take?

I can envision a scenario in which Trump falls under the spell of Putin, goes on a quest with him to fight ISIS, and in the ensuing alignment, the following interests will be protected:

1. Russia's allies (e.g. Assad, though Putin has shown willingness to support regime change) and access to the region
2. US petroleum interests and military installations

The following will be thrown under the bus:

1. Israel.

If not this, some other awful thing.  Trump is out of his element on the world stage.

Better Clinton.  Obviously.

The anti-Semites hovering around Trump should scare off any Jewish voter , like the John Birchers in Goldwater's corner. Not to mention that he's the only major party US candidate I can think of who has received genuinely enthusiastic support from Neo-Nazis.

Even focusing on just the "Zionism" issue, this is the first time in ages the Neo-Con "foreign policy wonk" (the kind of people who would be characters in Tom Clancy novels) type of voter will swing heavily for a Democrat in ages. They've been straight ticket Republican from 72 onward, were probably split in 60/64/68, and supported Eisenhower in the 50's. Because really, which one makes you feel safer, a former Secretary of State running our foreign policy or the former host of The Apprentice?

Neo-con foreign policy wonk Republicans don't actually exist outside of pundit circles though. So yeah, maybe DC and NYC will swing to Hillary.

Those are the only kind of people who would be "single issue Zionists" though, so I was using the example to answer the thread.

This.

They've got family members living in the settlements, and they refer to the West Bank as "Judea and Samaria."
