FBI director James Comey made a big splash today announcing no recommendation for any indictment for Hillary Clinton regarding her use of classified info on unsecured email server, and in so doing, removing one of her biggest potential obstacles. However, Comey also admonished Clinton, saying what she did was "extremely careless" and "she should have known better."

So  in the short term, who benefits the most? Or will it be a wash?

Slightly Trump, but mostly a wash.

Trump, but luckily it won't matter. I won't start taking the polls seriously until after the convention bounces have dissipated (i.e. late August or so)

I doubt many voters will change their mind on Hillary Clinton based on today's press conference and recommendation against an incitement. Keep in mind this is a fairly highly publicized case that has been in the media for a while, so quite a few people will have made up their mind on this case.

As Ice said, bumps don't matter in early July.

This should have helped the Republican candidate, except this year's candidate is viewed even more unfavorably. I tend to think it will be a wash - but with all things Trump, his response is actually getting more scrutiny and likely to be viewed with incredulity - stating Comey took bribes, praising Hussein, just a strange way to attack this whole situation.

The meteor. It'll probably be just enough for it to get into a debate if it lasts.

Well obviously Clinton isn't going to get a bump from this, so if anyone does it's Trump.  But it wouldn't be much of a bump, and with the conventions right around the corner, it doesn't really matter anyway.

Also, Trump has a special way of turning what should be positive events for his campaign into another data point that he's an incoherent, bigoted moron.

I doubt it will change many peoples' minds. I doubt the polling margins will change that much. But, their overall numbers might go down between this and the Turnip tweet fiasco. All in all,

The meteor. It'll probably be just enough for it to get into a debate if it lasts.
