The latest report from the Secretary of State had Democrats down to just a 8000 voter deficit in June, so they must have just passed the GOP.

FWIW I believe there is still slightly more "active voters" that are Republicans but when you include "inactive voters" there are more Democrats. Not sure what defines an active voter in Colorado. I believe both active and inactive voters are mailed ballots.

BTW there are more no party affiliation/minor party registered voters than either Republicans or Democrats.

Looking at the most recent data, Democratic voter rolls have grown by ~6.3% since the first of the year, driven by double digit registration increases among voters under 40. GOP voter rolls have expanded at a much more modest pace ~3.6%, growing at a slower rate among every age group.

Not sure how much effect these have had (or if they have even been started yet in CO), but Colorado seems to be the nexus point for a whole bunch of well-funded voter registration operations. Steyer's 25+ million dollar national voter registration push for Millennials includes targeting Colorado, with Soros & friend's 15+ million dollar Hispanic voter registration push also targeting Colorado (in addition to Nevada and Florida).

So if these haven't made a dent yet, they probably will in the next few months.

At the beginning of the year, Republicans were still ahead by 40.000 voters.

In the past 6 months, more than 150.000 people newly registered to vote in CO.

There are more Republicans than Democrats in NH, it's neck and neck in Maine and Democrats outnumber Republicans in Louisiana by a huge margin.

I know the Boulder area had/has a high number of left-leaning registered Independents, I wonder if they've been switching to Democrat lately? Either way, registration doesn't mean too much. West Virginia is another state that has more registered Democrats than Republicans and we all know how they've been voting lately.

People aren't likely go to the trouble of changing party affiliations after they've initially registered even if their politics change or they perceive parties to have changed, so historical registration doesn't always mean much.  However, since elections are often won on the margins, shift in party registration can be quite meaningful as they are often driven by new voters who are quite likely to register for the party they identify with right now.  The shift in voter registration are meaningful in places like Nevada and Colorado because they are competitive and they have a continuous influx of new voters.
