I don't see a thread for discussion of the South and Southern issues. If there is, I'll happily delete this. Smiley

Well, I guess I should clean out the old ranch again. And keep an eye on our western borders. Wink

The invitation from Bessell to meet in San Francisco has been quite a junket.

The Ranch is open for visitors, once again, from all over atlasia.

Steps up to the podium

*ahem*

Today we live in a world that is vastly different from the world of just 20 short years ago. As you all well know we had the largest shooting and the second largest Islamic terrorist attack on American soil in the city of Orlando. God rest their souls, the souls of the innocent men and women cut down in the prime of their life.

20 years ago, this was unthinkable. Nobody walked down the streets and worried about whether or not their children would come home safe. We were not all tethered to cell phones. Children could play in the yard and play with friends and worry about coming home late to dinner, not about abduction in the streets.

A few short years ago, we could have comfortably have stated that it was an aberration - that terrorist attacks were uncommon. Our complacency has been shattered. Last year we had San Bernardino, a few years ago we had the bombing attack at the Massachusetts marathon. Then there were the two shootings at Fort Hood. Some would struggle to connect the dots, but, ladies and gentlemen, we are under siege.

Our way of life in the south is being attacked by Islamic terrorists who seek to overthrow our freedoms, not through the ballotbox but through sheer, naked aggression. They seek to water the tree of Atlasia with the blood of innocents. They seek to cow our tremendous nation into compliance, with their way of life. They seek to supplant each and every one of us.

People cast about saying, "what can I do, I'm just one man", "why doesn't someone come up and stand up? For us? To that I can only say one thing. There is no political savior. The solution lies in the hearts of each and every one of us. How do we fight this terror? By getting up and getting off to work. By going out to the park for a long walk or to spend an evening with your son tossing the football back and forth. To go out to dinner and movie. In short to live the lives we have always lived just as they were today and yesterday.

And yes, ladies and gentlemen that means being ready and prepared for what is to come. Orlando was not the first terrorist attack, nor will it be the last terrorist attack on our soil. That I promise. Our enemies are not going to give up until they get what they want - our submission.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I stand before you today at a turning point. We must choose what future we want to have for ourselves. Will we continue to do as our forefathers did? To fight for truth? For Freedom? For liberty? Then we ourselves will choose, one by one, our rendezvous with destiny - in the shining city on the Hill.

I have been blessed, in my many years to have lived and worked in the great state of Texas. Once again - I feel that the time has come to repay the expansive hospitality that I have received. You have all invited me into your homes and for that I am grateful.

Southerners - the time has come once again, for me to give something back to you, to each one of you - in your service as your servant once again. I ask each one of you to please consider me as your representative for the new Southern Assembly.

There is a great deal of work that must be done to preserve our culture and our way of life in the face of the enormous threats that lay ahead of us.

A wise man once said, many years ago, in response to the question of what was his true purpose to establish in the nation, and he said, quite simply, "A republic, ma'am, if you can keep it". Another truly great man many years ago exhorted us to "hold fast and cling to that which is Good." Let us keep the faith of our forefathers and sustain their great experiment.

Thank you each one of you. I look forward to seeing many more of you over the next few weeks.

God bless you all!

Vicksburg Old Museum

Steps up to the podium

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks to the fantastic response from my previous speech out by the ranch, I've decided to continue my speaking tour 'round the south! Today I'm in Vicksburg, and I want to honor the brave men and women of Britain, particularly David Cameron! Without his bargain, we would not have had the grand and glorious result. England has spoken! No longer will she be weighed down by the oppressive burden of the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels. Free, at last! Free to pursue her own destiny and to chart her own course.

Atlasia, too, on the heels of #Brexit has made a similar choice. We have broken the chains of Labor. In a complete repudiation of their politics of envy, we have chosen a stouter and sturdier course. We could have chosen to stumble into the morass of the third republic, but instead, we have risen from the ashes into the 4th Constitution. We have our first, in a very long time, first president of the mighty Federalist party, acclaimed by all of Atlasia. And I am proud to have played my part. Not only do we have a Federalist, but our fellow southerner from the State of Georgia.

Congratulations to former Senator, now president-elect Leinad. Soon to be president Leinad on Friday.

We have plenty more that needs to be done. We are not finished with our task. We have another election coming up this weekend, where the South will choose it's own course. Will we choose to sink into the spectre of socialism? Or to rise above petty superstitions? Some have said that Brexit was a mistake, that the people were racist to choose their own way and to reject that of the educated, the Oxfords, the Cambridges, the Etons who would think they know better than We the People. But we all know the answer to that question.

Let us continue on this great work of freedom throughout the south!

God bless each and every one of you!

Hello everyone.

I had planned to continue on my speaking tour to Alabama, but then I had a revelation. I didn't win an election 60-40 or fight for my principles in order to have the party come around and tell me what they thought I should believe or do.

I received this missive from our erstwhile TMTH.

I would like to share it with Atlasians in general as I think it speaks gravely to our values in the South.

"Evergreen approached me about the LGBTQ+ bill and I agreed to sign on. This is something we have to pass. I understand RL concerns, but Atlasia is 40-50% LGBT. It is absolutely electoral suicide to oppose it - it's something Atlasia already had before (it was even more extreme before), so in a twisted way, it is more conservative than what was before."

TM goes on to say

"I'm not asking you to be vocal in support of it, but I'm asking you to be silent on the LGBTQ+ rights bill and not push legislators to vote against it."

I'm not a legislator, and I'm just a private citizen. But I don't recall that bills supporting evergreen showing up on the Federalist platform in the election. If I wanted to vote *FOR* evergreen, I would have cast my ballot for her. I did not.

I, like the rest of you, expected that this would be an enjoyable session. It was TM himself who asked me to throw my hat in the ring. Now, TM is asking me to do the opposite now that it might be inconvenient to his plans.

TM goes on to say:

"If we shoot down a bill for LGBTQ+ rights, you can kiss our majority goodbye."

And again:

"No, I'm not going to hear you out, because I'm not the one who has the problem with this."

I was told by our chairman NC Yankee that my concerns would be heard and that I would be listened to. Sadly while Yankee could promise such a thing, TM could and would not.

So, in the end, I've decided to do the honorable thing, and leave. I came back because TM stated that he valued my participation. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case.

I cannot put myself before my constituents and speak that I am representing you by being silent. I don't think you will like this and in the end, that's the most important thing. Nor do I see much point in working for a Federalist party that is a clone of evergreen.

TM had a chance, had many chances to show that he truly did value social conservatives, Catholics, Protestants of all stripes. Inside, he's decided to find his friends with evergreen. I hope he enjoys his new companions, for I cannot and will not walk that line.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Goodbye Atlasia.

Classic, I didn't sign on for this abuse. I am choosing to stand down rather than remain silent about an issue near and dear to my heart.

You didn't run on it. You didn't tell me. You didn't tell any of us. And now you expect us to support you, believe you or trust you in the future.

Sorry Yankee. You blew it. Rather than work on trust and talk and consultation you decided that consultation wasn't important enough.

What other 'surprises' do you have for us, Yankee?

I'm amused. We won a 60-40 victory and the first thing that happens is that the entire docket is dominated by evergreen.

Well played, ma'am. I have to congratulate you. Smiley Job well done.

Sorry, Yankee. Trust is very hard to earn back after a stunt like this.

I didn't end the honeymoon. I had TM PM me and tell me to be silent and fall in line and support evergreen.

I mean, WTF? 2 days after the election?

I have the transcripts if you want them. No, there's no misinterpretation.

I was looking forward to doing cool things but it seems I'm never going to get to do them. Same sh**t different day.

So long as TM's there, I'm not. It seems that everybody can dig down and support Leinad, but when it's my turn, TM can't keep his pants on to piss on the socons.

TM just wanted to ram it through before anyone had a chance to say no. I hadn't actually seen the bill at all, or been aware of anything along those lines before TM PMed me. TM initiated a meeting to tell me that I had to shut up about it because he is a coward and he was scared I'd find out about it and get pissed.

I had promised TM earlier not to say anything in public prior to having a chance to talk it out. That he had so little trust in me speaks volumes.

TM could have PMed me the bill. He'd obviously been working on it with evergreen through the election, he just chose not to inform or communicate what he was doing with any members of the Federalist party.

Which, hey, shows the degree of trust that TM has in his own party. If he doesn't trust us enough to tell us what the hell he's doing then he should leave. Simple as that.

He actually didn't admit he *had* worked on it with evergreen until quite later on. He just said, "it had to pass or" apparently Godzilla would eat atlasia.

And we all saw how well fearmongering worked with #Brexit.

In any case, the bill is a giant steaming unworkable turd. It shouldn't pass, it should just be sh**tcanned rather than endure the massive, massive numbers of amendments required to make it work. It's a 6 bill omnibus of which number 1 itself is a massive hundred page piece of legislation.

No way should it even be considered in it's current form. 1 alone is a maybe. It's basically evergreen's Christmas wish list. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I was working through the entire thing and I realized that it would take me 3, 4 hours just to come up with the list of amendments. Why bother? If the legislation needs that much work, it's better scrapping it altogether.

But hey, it makes TM happy so I guess we all have to fall in line and gobble up the sh**t sandwich.

Thanks, TM. I was actually really enjoying atlasia. You brought me home to reality, once again.

TM should have ran on the evergreen platform if he wanted to do this. He did not. I don't like liars and I especially don't like liars that take advantage of my assistance.

I won't be voting for a Federalist until TM is ousted out of the party. Lies have consequences. At least I know which side of the aisle Evergreen et al walk down.

Please don't waste your time spamming my box for votes, this is a warning to the other Feds who have done nothing to deserve anything. Concentrate on the folks like evergreen who might... just maybe, vote for you.

Indeed. I heard you're planning a nationwide 15 dollar an hour minimum wage? We should make sure to exempt all the unions.

You can even sign my name on top of it and call it bipartisan!

TM, I could have done exactly what you did. Hell, I would have been speaker - got elected on Federalist votes and then be the swing vote for Labor, and still stay on as speaker.

How would you have liked that?

I thought about that but then I decided, I'm not like you, TM. I have enough honor not to screw the party over as hard as you just did.

You should resign, and stand up to a vote of your constituents.
