NOTE:
Alaska is omitted because there is no way to accurately determine how each borough voted.
For New York, I did New York City (all five boroughs) instead

Margins:

20% - <5%
30% - 5%-10%
40% - 10%-15%
50% - 15%-20%
60% - 20%-25%
70% - 25%-30%
80% - 30%-40%
90% - 40%+

The closest biggest counties that went for Obama were Harris County, TX (D+0.08%), Hillsborough County, NH (D+1.12%), East Baton Rouge Parish, LA (D+5.23%), and Jefferson County, Alabama (D+5.97%). The closest biggest counties that went for Romney were Cass County, ND (R+2.90%), Douglas County, NE (R+3.02%), and Minnehaha County, SD (R+7.40%).

The strongest biggest counties for Obama were Philadelphia County, PA (D+71.27%), NYC, NY (D+63.41%), and Multnomah County, OR (D+54.72%). The strongest for Romney were Greenville County, SC (R+27.75%), Laramie County, Wyoming (R+24.32%), Yellowstone County, MT (R+20.49%), El Paso County, CO (R+20.38%), and Salt Lake County, Utah (R+20.22%).

I will add the map with the remained of the states later.

50% - 10%-15%
60% - 15%-20%
70% - 20%-25%
80% - 25%-30%
90% - 30%+

The strongest states for Obama are Hawaii (D+50.56%), Vermont (D+33.52%), Maryland (D+22.47%), and Massachusetts (D+21.90%). The strongest states for Romney are Utah (R+64.92%), Wyoming (R+43.93%), Idaho (R+39.94%), Oklahoma (R+37.57%), Kentucky (R+30.59%), and West Virginia (R+30.14%).

Colorado really stands out. Only state where people in the biggest county voted GOP while losing the rest of the state.

Yes, it does. I also found it interesting how many states that we generally see as strongly or solidly Democratic are so heavily dominated by their largest county, so that if you take that away, they become tossups or even Republican-leaning (Illinois, Delaware, Oregon).

In general, most states become more Republican without their largest counties. The exceptions are:

Maricopa County, AZ (Arizona is 2.44% more Democratic without it)
El Paso County, CO (Colorado is 3.28% more Democratic without it)
Fairfield County, CT (Connecticut is 2.28% more Democratic without it)
Honolulu County, HI (Hawaii is 7.86% more Democratic without it)
Yellowstone County, MT (Montana is 1.13% more Democratic without it)
Hillsborough County, NH (New Hampshire is 1.81% more Democratic without it)
Bergen County, NJ (New Jersey is 0.77% more Democratic without it)
Greenville County, SC (South Carolina is 1.89% more Democratic without it)
