Let's assume Hillary Clinton wins in November. (decisivly)

Senat turns DEM; the House is still controlled by the GOP

Governing is no real fun.

Is it realistic, that she seeks no second term?

Unless she has health problems, I would be very surprised if she didn't seek a second term.

I'd be surprised if she didn't try to seek a second term even if she had health problems, a la FDR

Nah, I think Clinton is too much of a democratic party loyalist to do that.

IMO all these people are super, often delusionally confident, absurdly ambitious people, and Clinton is no exception.  How many people other than Washington have stepped down for reasons other than they were going to lose anyways?

Maybe if it publicly leaked that she had serious health issues and it put her campaign in serious jeopardy, she'd step down and endorse someone so that the democrats wouldn't lose control.

If she were to somehow win, she'd run again, if she were not to have gotten impeached, because masons.

Yes, but she'll be 73 in November '20, which is a couple months younger than Reagan (He was born in Feb, Hillary was born in Oct)

In addition, no matter who wins the Senate in 2016, the Senate sounds likely to turn into a Republican supermajority in 2018 because many of the incumbent Democratic seats are located in conservative states like Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota and Montana. And in addition, the GOP is likely to target swing states like Florida, Ohio, Michigan, etc. If that's the case, then Hillary Clinton will have a hard time to get her policies done and to run for a second term.

By supermajority you mean 60? That seems pretty unlikely to me that they would flip 11+ seats. Well in any case, I wouldn't say it's likely. It's on the outer edge of what's reasonably possible.

Yep, and the Trumpster would be 74.

But yes, I think she will seek a second term get reelected unless she gets serious health problems.

I think it's certainly possible or even likely for Clinton to be a 1 term Pres not for health reasons or anything but being defeated for reelection in 2020.

1. She will be going up against the 12 itich. Ex. Bush I tried to seek another term in 92 to furfill 16 years of Republicans holding the WH and was defeated by Bill Clinton.

2. She is strongly disliked and it's certainly quite possible for her to be unpopular while serving as President. Not to mention more Clinton scandals popping up in the coming years should she win in November.

And Bernie is already 74 going on 75 this year 2016!

Bernie won’t be president. Nor will the Trumpster.

Unrealistic for her not to seek it, but very realistic for her to be defeated.

She has performed her other jobs well, so why would anyone think she would be an awful President? Definitely a second term.

It's not a question of how good she is, unless things stop polarizing over 4 years and reverse, half the country is going to hate her on principle and there'll be suspicious liberals anyway.

Given how unpopular both sides are right now, 2020 is probably going to be a rout to fix the errors of this cycle.

If trump wins, he'll end up like Jimmy Carter (as if his campaign didn't already have a lot of resemblances), with Paul Ryan and the remaining Tea Partiers being like the 1974 Liberals batting heads.

If Hillary wins, she'll probably end up like H.W.

ITT: Atlas posters thinking they can predict the outcome of an election that is four years away when they weren't even able to correctly predict the primaries this year.

I think she'll run. For personal reasons, she wouldn't want to be the first President in generations not to seek a second term.

The idea that Clinton will not run for re-election after having dispatched Trump is as plausible as the idea that she wasn't dead set on running again ever since the end of the 2008 primaries. Just not plausible.
