This would not have been surprising in 2013-2014. It's actually somewhat surprising now. Go figure.
Also henster, this should go in U.S. General Discussion, unless McAuliffe declared a run for the presidency that I'm unaware of.
It can fit in here because McAuliffe has devoted himself towards putting Virginia's 13 evs in her column, thats why he pulled that little stunt with the felon voting order
I'm not really going to get into the whole felony disenfranchisement issue
(it's wrong, but ok), but rather that Virginia Republicans can go eat dirt. They passed their voter id bill specifically to reduce the voting power of minorities and young people after they stepped way out of line and had the audacity to help elect the nation's first black
(Democratic) president. They then strengthened it in 2013 when those SAME people had the nerve to help elect him again. I know, right? Republicans had to do
something, so they passed another voting regulation whose sole purpose was to reduce turnout among Democratic constituencies.
McAuliffe restored voting rights to people who never should have lost them to begin with, while Virginia Republicans have spent the past half decade doing whatever they can to reduce the number of people who can vote. So don't go talking about that stuff unless you're prepared to acknowledge the numerous times VA Republicans have passed laws solely to keep VA in the R column come election day. Pretty big difference here between the two's actions.
