A lot of you guys are really great. Here's a fe I would like to hang out with

Statesrights: The south shall indeed rise again!
Gustaf: Great guy
Gabu: Has a lot of common sense and makes me laugh
PBrunsel: Knows more about history than I will ever know!
John Dibble: Libertarians can be pretty neat people
Nation: Great Democrat
Emsworth: Great Constitutional scholar
MHS2002: Another N. Dakota fan!
And so many others...

I'm quite surprised at how many of you would hang out with me. I, sometimes, wonder that my hardline rhetoric peeves-off both liberals and Republicans - maybe I should tone it down a bit

I would hang out regularly with more of you than I wouldn't and not just Democrats either - but liberals and conservative Republicans, too!

The only thing I'd want you to tone down a bit is the editing-and-reposting of posts and the use of the exclamation mark. Smiley

I love most of you, except for some of the oddball trolls.

However, hanging out with me on a daily basis requires a lot. I'm glad to see I'm almost tied for #1 in votes with Gabu and Alcon, but I'd probably force you all to listen to my vast collection of 600+ CDs and over 2000 MP3s.

We could also jam out -- I've got my drumset, and you've got your (insert instrument here).  I have a spare PRS if you're lacking, though.

Then we could have gin and tonic, play a round of golf, discuss theology, or watch a movie or something. Or go to a show. I'm seeing Ted Leo and the Pharmacists in June, and doing a road trip to NYC in August at the Bowery Ballroom to see Sufjan Stevens.

I only picked a handful of you though, since I don't know most of you. And hanging out with a daily basis requires a lot of that sh**t.

I'd like to hang out with States, if for nothing else -- we could get drunk.

Dazzle and me could play some golf, and then have some drinks.

Gabu's just super cool. Same with Alcon, John Ford, Liberty, JJ, PBrunsel, MHS, Lewis, NewFeddy, etc.

Cash could tell me whether it's worth it to be a teacher.

Jmfcst could enlighten me more about the Bible.

Supersoulty would be good to just chill with, have a beer, watch the game.

Texasgurl sometimes emits a subtle feeling of hostility in her posts, but I'm sure she's a very nice person in real life.

WMS I think is the closest person to me politically. Always have. With that alone, he'd be a good choice.

Andrew I think is the person who most likely resembles me at his age. He'll become another Nation in no time.

I still say we should have some sort of Atlas Convention thing right smack in the middle of I-95 (not literally! around DC!)

I see no reason why you should "tone it down". You are quite the voice of reason and one should always stick by their beliefs and principles. Smiley Anyhow I like most foreigners as I find their cultures & cuisine interesting. Smiley

I am shocked that I am so high up and that angus is so low down, what's wrong with you people? Tongue

I have always managed to get out of jury duty as well.  Neither the prosecution nor the defense can neatly place me into a reliable demographic, so I get waved without either of them having to use up one of their strikes.  It got a little sticky last time, though.  Alameda Co. courthouse is in a nice spot, with a beautiful view of lake merit and the outer coastal range hills.  Took me two days of enjoying that view to get out.  Young black man accused of killing his wife.  Judge was old-fashioned.  Looked rather like Herman Munster when he was in My Cousin Vinny.  A good judge, I could tell.  Made sure everyone understood that the burden of proof lies with the prosecution, not with the defense.  That if we were asked for a verdict right now, the default would be Not Guilty.  He pointed to photos on the wall, of various incarnations of the ACC.  And how it got to its present location.  He then had the accused face us.  Take a long look at him, and he at us.  Made sure we understood the nature of the case, and that no one knew him, or had heard of him, etc.  Made sure we knew it could go on for weeks and there'd be gut-wrenching testimony by little children.   Then it's all sit and wait to be called.  There was Mr. Businessman, older and white with nice clothes.  He couldn't afford to give up that much time.  Sorry, the prosecution really likes you buddy.  There was young dominican single mother of four, with two jobs.  She said she couldn't afford it either.  Sorry, the defense really likes you lady.  Upon being called, I stated my name and usual occupation, explained that I was a scientist and in ten days was expected for a month-long visit at a fairly prestigious university in Amsterdam.  That I was looking forward to going to Amsterdam.  And that the whole thing was being funded by US and dutch taxpayers.  Of course, at the word "scientist" the attorneys looked at each other with that look I know well by now which conveys, in a glance, that this juror is not the manipulable type, and would take it all a bit too seriously, but without ever seeming to take any of it seriously.  Thus, in their mutual agreement they were able to say I could go home (or back to work) without either having to use up one of their strikes.  Don't worry 'bout me John F. Kennedy, I'm pretty selective about the parties I attend, and generally don't get miffed at not being invited to them all.
