They were fantastic under Mao. He welcomed free speech under the Hundred Flowers campaign. He weeded out corruption. He made a couple misinformed decisions, but that's what they were - uninformed. There was no malice.

Now there is corruption. The CCP are a mess in terms of structure, but at least they operate efficiently and smartly.

I mean too capitalistic, Mao wasn't perfect, but at least he did something for socialism, which later governments did not do, which maybe was good thing, I'd them retain socialism, in a more start and humane condition instead of going into path of full on liberalization. Still the government works efficiently, has done huge favor to the Chinese people, so on that note, it's a good government. Needs to be more socialistic though, and actually control the means of production, and actually give rights to workers and the peasantry, instead of having them suffer with state capitalism.

Violation of human rights in millions of cases, corruption, censorship, cyber attacks and currency manipulation. Do I have to say any more?

They would literally be better off under something like Mao again, and that's not an endorsement of Mao.

Mao killed the most people of any dictator. Not sure why he would be an improvement.

The OP and Intell for sure, it's hard to tell with:dax, Sabot cat and Crabby.  Maybe a troll vote or two or maybe a chicken sh**t vote* or two.

*voting in these things in the extreme minority means, at least to me, you have to post in the thread to defend your odd position (there are exceptions).  It happens to all of us from time to time, I always try to.  Every so often spelling things out shows me why I'm wrong.  Sometimes people show me I'm wrong after posting.  Nearly every time I learn something and can either better defend my position, alter it or "convert".

They at least have far higher standards of living under the current administration in comparison to the days of Mao.

Generally speaking yes, but if you're born in the sticks and can't get a visa to go work in a factory two towns over putting together iPods you're pretty much screwed.

Capitalistic countries don't limit internal movement of it's people.
(yes I'm aware there are exceptions, there are always exceptions, but the other 99.7% of the time it's true)

China is capitalistic, or state-capitalistic, and not like the left-communists that call the soviet union state-capitalist.
