They should start doing polls to find out, who of the four can beat the Liberals in the next elections.

An internal poll for Cloutier was given to a journalist.

A léger poll done September 12 to 15. Québec Solidaire gets 12% whoever is leader.

With Cloutier: PLQ 31%, PQ 28%, CAQ 23%

With Lisée: PLQ 31%, PQ 25%, CAQ 25%

With Ouellet: PLQ 32%. PQ 22%, CAQ 28%

Crop has done a poll, September 15 to 19.
http://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/politique/politique-quebecoise/201609/22/01-5023096-sondage-crop-la-presse-lisee-et-cloutier-au-coude-a-coude.php

For the first time Lisée is shown to be doing better than Cloutier among the electorate.

With Cloutier: PLQ 36%, PQ 27%, CAQ 27%, QS 10%

Wth Lisée: PLQ 33%, PQ 31%, CAQ 25%, QS 11%

With Ouellet: PLQ 36%, PQ 25%, CAQ 28%, QS 10%

With St-Pierre Plamondon: PLQ 36%, PQ 21%, CAQ 29%, QS 14%

In May, CROP had Lisée trailing the PLQ 33% to 26% while Cloutier was almost tied with the PLQ, 34% to 33%.

The poll asked those supporting the PQ their choice for leader. Cloutier got 37%, Lisée 36%, Ouellet 22%, St-Pierre Plamondon 5%.

I don't know if Gilles Duceppe's media tour yesterday telling Lisée doesn't have what it takes to be PQ leader will have influence. Cloutier is now saying it is a tight race compared to September 12 he was saying it was far from reality it was a tied race. Now says two important debates are left, two weeks ago was saying the level of interest to debates will go decreasing, 85% of people have made their mind.

Pundits sounding the alarm at Cloutier's flailing campaign. I thought for a long time that Lisee's iconoclasm precluded a win, since neither party has elected one as leader postwar, but have now changed my mind.

Cloutier still holds a tiny advantage as voting begins next week. Will be our closest leadership race EVAH. Even in 1961 Johnson won 55/45.

Voting ends at 5 PM tomorrow, results will be announced at a Quebec City rally tomorrow night. Right now Breguet has Lisée as the narrowest of favourites, but still a pure tossup.

Michel David speculates that Ouellet may be expelled for flagrant insubordination.

Cloutier counting on homeboy turnout in Saguenay.

Gagnon: Candidates are pretty evenly matched, Lisée has a better political instinct and is mature but Cloutier's more affable and moderate. Cloutier preferable due to Lisée's identitarian demagogy, arrogance and being too clever by half, Cloutier can mature with time.

Voting is now closed. Turnout was 75%.
54992 voted, 73236 eligible voters.

It was a preferential ballot so not everyone will have put a second or third choice.

Cloutier has the support of 14 caucus members, Lisée 6, Ouellet 0.
The Saguenay Lac-St-Jean region (Cloutier) had a turnout of 83% and has around 12% of members (much bigger weight than provincial population).

Results coming in a few hours.

In "building up" to the announcement, the PQ is currently featuring the finest in Francophone music by random nobody entertainers. They are literally singing the infamous UMP lipdub from 2010 now. Not good!

Jean-François Lisée elected PQ leader on Second ballot with just over 50% of the vote, Alexandre Cloutier finished second with about 31%, Martine Ouellet finishes third with about 17%, and Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon finishes fourth with about 6% of the vote.
