Republican best results assumes Republicans run on a record of accomplishment in building an ownership society:
1) Iraq has settled down (Sunnis join the Government, 3 way power and oil revenue sharing), significant numbers of US troops come home.
2) Economy is not getting worse than today
3) Gas prices are around $2.00 gallon
4) Social Security reform and an energy bill have passed
5) The deficit is less in 2006 than 2005
6) Dean's rantings tarnish the Democrats nationally
7) DeLay is not indicted

Republicans could pick up 6 seats!  They could hold PA (Casey stumble) RI, and TN, while they takeover MN, NJ (Kean wins against further Democratic scandals), VT (a 3-way race with a strong democrat), FL (Harris beats Nelson), WA (Dino Rossi runs), MD (Steele runs).

I think this is possible, but only give it about 10% probability.
