It's been said that Indiana is not flyover country by some unnamed atlasian Hoosiers. I say it is. Who is right?

'Flyover country' is a disgustingly metrocentric and supercilious concept (not NYMillennial).

Not you, that's for sure. Indianapolis is a pretty prominent city in regional and media terms. Also, Indiana and West Virginia don't size up well together in a comparison.

Also, flyover country is a moronic, useless term.

Personally I love that part of the country and enjoy living in a rural area.

No, "flyover country" is a disgusting concept.  I'm surrounded by people who believe in it everyday and it kills me.  Send help!  Corn-on-the-cob or something!

No such thing as 'flyover country'. My favorite parts of New England are the more rural, scenic areas.

No, it is drive-through country. Nebraska & Kansas are examples of flyover country.

Of course the idea that "fly over country" is worse than non-fly over country is silly, but I've just assumed the tiny fraction of people that buy into it think everything more than 50 miles from a coast is in fly over country.

I'd say it's far more "flyover" than West Virginia. When I think of WV, I think of kindly hillbillies, porchfront bluegrass jams, mountains, and my grandmother's drunken brothers being walked down to the Braxton County jail circa 1955.

When I think of Indiana, I think of JCL, bathroom rest stop gloryholes, abandoned factories, large rural areas that don't seem to have anything growing in the farm fields, and of course, extroverted blonde High School girls preparing to skip college and move to South Florida to take up the position of trophy wife.

That's an export to be proud of.

Well of course a Nebraskan would think that.

Voted no.  (Indiana is a small part of flyover country, but it is not flyover country by itself.)

For future reference, see the diagram below:

Being called ''flyover country'' is a compliment. If left-wingers dislike a place, that place is clearly doing something right. For example, the constant bashing of Oklahoma by left-wingers on this forum only makes me like it more.

Yes

Anywhere that's mostly flat, grassy or cornfield-y and rural regardless of politics is flyover.

Need mountains, forests, canyons, and cities to not be flyover material.

If Ted Cruz becomes President, Indiana will no longer be flyover country, it will be fly-to country.

Indiana was founded in order to fill the void between Illinois and Ohio.

I've always understood flyover country for states that aren't on the coasts, specifically rural ones.  However, I don't care what Indiana is (and I can only speak for Indianapolis), I like it!

No.  Only Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming are in that category.
