I'm actually surprised Cruz is considering Fiorina for VP

It actually makes a little bit of sense.

Even if Cruz wins the nomination in a contested convention, he is already toast in the general...unless he can unite the conservatives and split the moderates. If Cruz wanted to make the election about a single issue to accomplish this, abortion is the obvious choice. Who would better fit this strategy than Fiorina, a woman whose own campaign was distinctly rabid in it's anti-abortion arguments.

Fiorina obviously has no qualifications, but picking her if you are Cruz isn't completely tone deaf politically.

She'd be a good pick in order to do well in the primaries (and so stop Trump from getting the nomination and being nominated at 2nd ballot), but not a good one for the general election.
