Looks like he's willing to do whatever it takes to get Kasich out of Indiana, even if it means ceding Oregon and New Mexico to Trump.

Good. Hopefully Kasich reciprocates. I'm supporting him, but I'm still a little mad about how quickly he threw Rubio under the bus when Rubio encouraged his Ohio voters to vote for Kasich.

The problem with both this and the Rubio Super Tuesday thing is that Kasich seems to have goals other than just making sure Trump doesn't get to 1237.

What gives Cruz the right to "allow" a fellow candidate to compete in states?

I guess Ted just doesn't have New Mexico values.

Looks incredible weak begging Kasich to not compete in a neighboring state.

Both states are purely proportional, so vote splitting won't help Trump at all.

I can't support this. A corrupt bargain like this makes Donald Trump right: everyone is willing to be corrupt to take him down.

I can't support anyone willing to take the low road to the highest office in the land.

They're both proportional, and he's only going to win at a contested convention, so it makes sense that his main goal at this point is for him and Kasich to absorb the most delegates against Trump.

They should have started doing this two weeks ago.

Great news!  The only remaining goal is to deny Trump 1237!

It's not a corrupt bargain or a low road. It's the rules of the system. It's not like they're cheating or anything. This wouldn't even be an issue with IRV.

Cruz was never going to win New Mexico, and I guess their campaign is not feeling so hot about Oregon either. I don't know why the anti-Trump Republicans here are cheering this on when it was a losing strategy for that loser Marco Rubio back in mid-March.

Good. Kasich is a useful pawn in Cruz's master plan.

Well Rubio did try it but he was hung completely out to dry. This is a bit different since both campaigns are working together.

This is going to be interesting.  Probably backfire with trump winning IN,NM and OR essentially ending Cruzs campaign.

Honestly this is clearly a sign that the Cruz campaign is on death throes, and when they lose Indiana next Tuesday they'll be in full on meltdown mode. Ceding states is the perfect indicator of a dying campaign, especially if they're states you need to win - even if they're proportional.

Ok, but it's Kasich. Kasich. He's also a known loser and he'll just siphon some anti-Trump votes away from Cruz in New Mexico and Oregon.

And New Mexico is not like the north east, wtf Kasich no wonder you're a loser. It's like western Texas and Arizona.

I do think Kasich should have done this two weeks ago and asked for MD, CT and DE.

Kasich is definitely getting the short end of this stick.  OR and NM are completely proportional with not many delegates to offer.  Cruz pulling out and Kasich focusing on these two states will make very little difference in the delegate count.  However, just looking at the polling, Kasich has no chance in high-leverage Indiana while Cruz does, and if his goal is to get this to a contested convention, this seems to be the play.

It just seems really weak on Kasich's end to just give away a neighboring state.  Not that it really matters that much...Kasich isn't winning a contested convention.

It definitely helps that a Cruz SuperPAC is running anti-Kasich ads in the state.

I'm not sure Kasich campaigning in New Mexico and Oregon really hurts Cruz that much to begin with. Cruz probably wasn't going to win New Mexico, and Kasich will mainly takes votes from Portland/the suburbs, which might actually hurt Trump more than Cruz, who's probably counting on big wins in the rural Eastern part of the state to win it. Interesting that he's not "allowing" Kasich to campaign in Washington. Maybe Cruz thinks Kasich might actually cost him victory there.
