I would consider myself to be fiscally conservative/socially liberal, but I am by no means a libertarian. I don't want to be associated with people who support abolishing the minimum wage, legalizing heroin, going back to the gold standard, and etc. I don't support any of the fringe positions that most libertarians support. I just mostly side with mainstream Republicans on economics issues and with mainstream Democrats on social issues. Being fiscally conservative/socially liberal is not the same thing as being libertarian. What would you call someone whose fiscally conservative/socially liberal? Also, people who identify as fiscally conservative/socially liberal are great, especially when they're not libertarians.

I would call you a Rockefeller/George Romney Republican. A typical pre-Religious Right conservative.
Once again, supporting public healthcare and civil rights isn't remotely conservative.

I don't like this group, even though people mistake me for it a lot. I'd call them "authoritarian/urban neoliberals". Along the lines of Michael Bloomberg and maybe to the left of Rudy Giuliani a little.

I disagree. Bloomberg is very left-wing on social issues and a centrist/center-left on economics. Bloomberg is certainly not by any means fiscally conservative. Bloomberg is a New Democrat. Michael Bloomberg is on the center-left overall. He's like the Jon Huntsman of the Democratic Party.

That depends on your definition of fiscal conservative. I consider Bloomberg to be more fiscally conservative than the typical tax cut-and-spend national Republican.

Either a "moditarian" (think "conservatarian" except for moderates) or a moderate Goldwater-ite (since you didn't specify foreign policy).

My opinion of them? I suppose it's a generally positive one, except when they act like higher-evolved varieties of us wackjob libertarians.

What if they don't claim to be a Republican, though?

Do you want it to trigger me?

Seriously though, I'd call you a conservative-liberal. Like, I dunno, VVD or a Cameron Tory or whatever.

How is supporting civil rights not conservative?  Can't you be conservative and pro-civil rights at the same time?

Classical liberal (like in Europe)? European liberalism basically is socially liberal/fiscally conservative but not quite as extreme as libertarianism.

FYI, you can be a libertarian and not want legalized heroin, back on the gold standard or abolishing the minimum wage.  And not even be all that weird.
