Ugh no. I felt sick voting for Rubio he needs to fade into non-existence as a failed politician should.

What do you expect? He made a pledge, and he is going to abide by it.

Seems like there are signs that the party is either coming around to or giving in to a Trump nomination.

He's also said he's instructing his delegates to support Ted Cruz on a second ballot.

Seems like there are signs that the party is either coming around to or giving in to a Trump nomination.

Seems like there are meaningless "signs" of this every day and it never happens

This is true.  As we get closer to the convention, the party has to coalesce.  Trump will be the nominee, and it will be fascinating to watch how the anti-Trump people handle it.  The establishment could still take it from him, but why?  You have a candidate that clearly won in the primaries and excited a whole lot of people, and you want to give it to some guy like Paul Ryan that excites no one?

It appears to be that way, doesn't it?

Ted Cruz looked BAD in losing NY.  He got ZERO delegates, but that wasn't the end of the world.  What happened was that he looked nasty, but humorless and angry.  He wasn't entertaining like Trump.  He showed America why he's so disliked on a personal level, even by folks who respect his credentials and intellect.  Mitch Daniels, in giving his 2012 post mortem, suggested that in future Presidential elections, " . . . it would be helpful if people liked us . . . just a bit."  Ted Cruz isn't the guy to make that happen.

Not sure what is meant by "giving in to".  Every four years, nearly 100% of all politicians from the two major parties back their party's presidential nominee, even those who fought hard to nominate someone else.  The fact that we already have more than a handful of Republican politicians saying they won't do so for Trump is unusual.  But those #NeverTrump folks are always going to be smaller in number than the group who will fight hard to stop Trump from being nominated, yet ultimately endorse him if he's the nominee.  The fact that most Republicans will endorse the nominee once the nomination is decided is a separate question from how many of them will fight hard to make sure someone other than Trump is nominated.

Well, if Trump is the nominee, some in the party will back him enthusiastically, some will give lip service, some will bolt and support another option, third party or whatever.

But the good news with a Trump nomination is that he will suffer a humiliating defeat in November, then go away, and hopefully not bother the Republican Party again.

Why couldn't he simply have cursed the Democrats by running for their nomination instead of cursing the Republicans and running for theirs.

Honestly as crappy as it sounds, if it takes a Trump crushing defeat for the Republican party to do some real soul searching and restructuring, maybe it'll be better down the road.

I suspect that if Trump is the nominee and loses the GE, then Cruz will be the early favorite for the 2020 GOP presidential nomination.  So....soul searching....hmmm.

He has to say that to keep his delegates in some states. I expect he won't comment on it any more than he has to if Trump is the nominee and quietly go hike the Appalachian Trail.
