Looks like he's trying to pivot to the GE:

On the transgender issue, Trump didn't take a view on either side of the debate from what I can tell.  He does what he always does when confronted with a controversial issue.  "There's a big problem.  This side is concerned.  The other side is concerned.  I'm telling you we got a big problem.  Leave it the way it is."

He did take a side: Leave restrooms how they are (i.e. neither make people use restrooms based on biological sex nor create gender-neutral restrooms).

I won't be surprised if Trump runs to the left of Hillary on a lot of issues before its all over. This is just the beginning

By the time November rolls around, Trump will be a self-avowed socialist with the Soviet flag flying gracefully above Trump tower.

I love how Trump is rabbiting on about the corrupt nature of the system.

Every isolated conspiracy theorist in the country is now a Trump fan.

The defensive nationalist strategy is a winner.

Wow. Trump is an idiot if he does this now. I didn't expect him to pull this until after June.

Has he not read his own tax plan calling for huge cuts to the top tax brackets and the elimination of the estate tax? To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't read it.

I think he's saying "who gives a smurf which bathroom you use?"  I don't really think that's a problem for him.  Outside North Carolina (and this forum), people don't discuss this and unless you're holding someone up who really needs to take a dump, they don't care which one you use.

The tax answer should raise a few iBrows.  I'm surprised that he would make such a statement before the Republican National Convention, especially if he wants to be nominated.

Best part of the interview:  "At the right time, I will be so presidential, you will be so bored. You will say, 'Can he have a little bit more energy?' But I know when to be presidential."

Yeah, it's quite hilarious that after all Trump's apostasy throughout the past year that him opposing some toothless and symbolic bathroom law was the last straw. lol

Breaking with party orthodoxy on gay & transgender issues is a smart move politically. The tax thing probably is not. Trump will lose more conservatives than he could possibly make up with liberals or moderates.

OK, but "outside North Carolina (and this forum)," Little-Hands-Drumpf-Fuhrer sure likes to discuss it.
And by trump "discussing" it, if will now become more of a "discussion" nation-wide.
The irony.

Not really. The GOP hurts itself way too much by its tax position, and they are often out of step with their base. If anything, i'd suggest the opposite - the trans issue could be riskier than endorsing tax rises.

Correct. If the Trump campaign has proven anything, it's that rank and file Republicans are not Chicago School ideologues.

This is true. Just look at the reactions of Classic Conservative and ExtremistRepublican. They're more offended by this than they would be with him sending hedge fund executives to the guillotine.
