That Trump will pick John Kasich or another Certified Moderate Hero™ as his running mate?

I mean, I doubt he will, but this is Trump we're talking about. I don't feel confident making predictions about him.

Yeah. I agree with Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who has been offering the following comment:

Kasich would have to actually accept such an offer, and my hunch is that he'd turn it down.  I expect Trump's veep list to be pretty thin, since I think many of the obvious choices will take themselves out of consideration, as they don't want to spend 3.5 months defending Donald Trump.  He'll probably be stuck having to pick from among the few politicians who've already endorsed him, like Rick Scott.

Or Huckabee.  I don't think Huck has formally endorsed him, but he is Trump-curious.

This of course assumes that the delegates will even let Trump pick his own running mate, which they might not.

If Trump goes to the convention with the 1237 delegates needed to secure a nomination on the first ballot, I think he'll have a fair number of people being willing to be on the ticket with him. At this point, you're right, Kasich doesn't appear to be willing to take the VP spot, but I wouldn't be surprised to find the position of Kasich (and others) with regard to this changing the closer we get to the convention. Where the rubber meets the road, that's where the really interesting things happen.

I think Kasich will run again in 2020, so he probably doesn't want to hitch his horse to the Trumpmobile, especially since conventional wisdom says that he will lose to Hillary. He'll remind us in 2020 about how he was the only candidate who was "civil," "polite," "positive," and ran a smear-free campaign and was the only potty-trained Republican who lasted up until the very end.

Kasich has as much right to main in the contest as Ted Cruz has, and there is good reason to do so, there are voters who supported Governor Kasich during the primaries, he represents them. When the Cleveland convention nominates Mr. Trump, then thats a different matter all together isn't it?

Giuliani made a correct baseball comparison with Trump and Mariano, but totally in the wrong way. Mariano basically only threw one pitch, a cutter, but was so good at the pitch that hitters knew it was coming and still couldn't touch it.

I've been saying for a while that Mitch Daniels is the ideal running mate for Trump, but

A. The Trump campaign is too stupid to pick him, and

B. He would never accept the job.

As someone with many friends connected to Purdue, however, I would love to see Daniels resign from his current post.

No way he picks a pro-choice GOPer. And, Brown adds nothing to the map.

No guarantee that the convention will let him pick his own VP, mind you.

True, although, even if they don't, it still has to be someone who will take the job.  I don't think you can nominate someone against their will.  So you're left with the same constraint that whoever takes it is going to be someone who's willing to spend 3.5 months defending Donald Trump....

....unless, out of spite, the delegates pick a running mate who won't endorse the guy at the top of the ticket.  How about Trump running with a #NeverTrump VP?  (Ben Sasse?  Mitt Romney?)  The VP nominee could then spend the fall going full-on Bulworth.

Only in my wildest dreams would Trump pick The Criminal as VP.

Oh, man. Just when you begin to think you've seen everything. Can you imagine? This is one crazy cycle, to be sure, and I'm beginning to think that the only thing we should expect is the unexpected...

Clinton's campaign is very easy against Trump

1. Trump is a racist who will deport all of you (to Hispanics)
2. Trump is a racist who will lower your wages (to African Americans)
3. Trump is a sexist pig (to women)
4. Trump is unstable and you can't give him the nuclear codes (to the entire electorate)
5. Trump knows nothing about policy

All of these are undoubtedly true

Definitely - This might be Brown's best chance to lose to 3 different women, but this time, in many more states all at once!

He doesn't care about abortion and 'adding things to the map' is a stupid reason to select Veep candidates.

If that happened, I hope to god Hillary would pick Warren as VP.  Let him get his ass handed to him twice by the same woman.

I think Brown may have a fetish for getting defeated by female Democrats. He must be a masochist.
