Biden managed to improve his margins statewide by about a point. However, when you look at the trends regionally, things get interesting. In Upstate New York (New York but without NYC and Long Island), Biden managed to improve his margins by an overwhelming 10 points. Biden won Upstate by a margin of 59%-41%, which is unusual for the traditionally competitive area. Many political analysts think that this represents the rapid Republican exodus from the Upstate into more conservative areas such as Texas and Florida, ever since Zeldin's narrow defeat in 2022. However, in NYC + Long Island, Trump managed to improve his margins by 7 points. Trump improved his margins everywhere in that area excluding Manhattan, where Biden improved his margins by 5 points. However, NYC + Long Island still went to Biden by a margin of 65%-35%.
