I didn't think up much of a backstory, just say the U.S. adopted a system a while back similar to France, with both a president and a prime minister.

And yeah, I think all the stances are fairly obvious except the Populists (more of a big tent populist party that doesn't fit in exactly on the political spectrum, although it's fairly center-left economically, pro-civil liberties, protectionist, and non-interventionist, attracts both urban and rural voters and popular in the west and midwest).

Inkscape for the map. Wikipedia should just be copying and pasting a random infobox into your sandbox and changing it to suit your needs.
