I will vote third party for the first time. I cannot support this DINO. He's a crook and a liar who has never done anything in thirty years in politics and wants to act like he's some sort of diety.

I can't understand someone being so partisan for the sake of party that barely exist (most of its members are members via self declaration) and vague as hell platform. Same for the Republicans. It seems feigned and insincere.

He'd become president, I'd withdraw my support of having the North join Canada, and I'd continue to viciously attack Hillary on all of her faults.

Sanders wins. He even spoke about Panama back in 2011.

WV lean R.

Sanders tests the proposition of whether or not the white working class can ever be won over by lefties again in this generation. I think he's doing a damned good job.

Sanders hasn't been attacked, he doesn't turn out minorities. Pa and CO are critical and has blacks in Philly and Latinos in Denver. Black and Latino house members endorsed Clinton.

Give it up, the Hillary campaign has been attacking him nonstop, the Washington Post has 16 hit pieces against him a day, and he won the least white state in the country.

I know many that want Sanders and not Clinton (and won't vote for her).  The lopsided R victories make me laugh.

Yep. Even if Sanders wouldn't win, he wouldn't lose like McGovern.

It would show how unrevolutionary Bernie is. No principled socialist would want to have anything to do with the Democratic Party, let alone be its nominee.

Yes, that Bernie 58%, Trump 34% poll showed that if there's going to be a McGovern margin, it's going to be in his favor.

It is adorable how you think this is actually the case. Hillary has barely touched him. She has been trying to stay tied to him like white on rice. The Washington Post hasn't "attacked" him except to point out that  his plans are exceedingly expensive and he's losing the horse-race.

The GOP would demolish him under a mountain of ads about how he wants to raise takes on Middle Class families... and they would have the benefit of not even being liars!

I don't think Trump would have to worry about #NeverTrump defections in the event he's running against Sanders.  Probably Trump's best chance at a victory, though honestly I have no idea who'd be favored or even whether to expect low or high turnout.

Of course, this won't happen barring a Clinton death or indictment, both of which would also affect the shape of the campaign.

Wild guess:

Sanders beats Cruz narrowly (ie if Cruz is the nominee there will be Trumpian uproar)

Sanders loses narrowly to Trump.

Sanders loses in a reverse 2008 scenario to Kasich, Ryan or any other mainstream republican, even if it means that the GOP have stolen the nomination from Trump/Cruz. A "compromise" candidate is probably better than handing the nomination to main Trump-rival Cruz.

Both Trump and Sanders are nearly impossible to predict, for a number of reasons:

1. General Election polls, especially national ones, are less than worthless at this point.

2. Support for both candidates has been in an echo chamber, both really enthusiastic, both ideologically isolated.  So when vast numbers of Wisconsin Democrats show up to vote Sanders, does that translate to large success in the general voting population, or a left-wing silo that hasn't really taken time to consider the acceptability of the candidate or his message?  Bernie Sanders is President of the Internet.

3. Pitting these two non-traditional candidates against one another is chaos upon chaos.  Anything can happen.  Throw out the models.

Against Trump is the only way Bernie has any chance. Get out of your bubble people. An atheist (not that I have any problem with it I'm not religous myself) socialist 75 year old is not going to win Florida or Ohio or Iowa or North Carolina or even most likely Pennsylvania. The only reason polls are showing him doing well is people are only thinking about personalities. The average person doesn't know that Bernie isn't just some nice old generic democrat yet.

This sounds similar to Hillary Clinton's campaign referring to Obama circa April 2008.
