I know the conventional wisdom is that Hillary will pick Julian Castro but I think that Sharrod Brown would be a much better pick. He appeals to Sanders supporters for one thing and she's also weak in Ohio, especially against Trump so I think he'd help her there and would be a good liberal attack dog. Thoughts?

It would involve losing a senate seat because Kasich is the governor so no, horrible idea.

He was on MSNBC last night and gave a Shermanesque denial.

Probably should avoid picking any US Senator given that our aspiring Democratic Senate majority will need every seat we can get with no unnecessary risks.

Best pick?

Mayor of San Antonio and HUD Secretary hardly rises to the level of what is required of a VP in the twenty first century.

First and foremost, the Vice President must have the capacity to become President.  I doubt he meets that criteria.

And apparently he is not fluent in Spanish.

Stop. Hillary won’t pick a 63-year old white guy. Just not going to happen. I think he doesn't add something to the ticket. She needs someone younger with a future.

Picking a siting Senator is not a very good idea, regardless of Brown's undeniable merits, because in a year of wild anti-establishment wave that wouldn't play well, especially with Hillary. Also, that would amount to losing a Senate seat, which isn't a good idea either.

To some degree, it also goes against Castro, a freaking sitting member of Obama's cabinet. Aside of "he's a Latino", there's literally nothing justifying such a pick: you can't put Texas in play and he's just an empty suit.

A better 'progressive wildcard' would be Al Franken. They're both progressives from the Great Lakes area that would help get more Berniebots to tolerate Clinton, but Franken has the added benefit of being a comedian who could potentially get millennials more involved.

Shes not hoping to put TX in play, but most Millineal Latinos dont speak fluent Spanish; otherwise, Rubio would of been nominee.  He is young and the SW is in play anyways. If its a close election,  she will need every Latino vote possible

If Hillary goes against Trump, her VP sure as hell won't have to be Latino.

Which would be an awful, tone deaf pick. The only reason he wasn't DWS-level hated is because he quit the job before he could face the real repercussions of it.

Stop perpetuating this "Trump will pick a moderate career politician as his running mate" myth. It is not going to happen.

He will pick a politican, as he said. And this one would actually make sense. So, why not? TRUMP is smart.

He'd still do worse with Latinos than Romney, token Latino VP or not. In fact it would damage Martinez's standing with Latinos much more than it would actually help Trump.

Castro wants the job and it wont be Tom Perez. Castro is young enough and it will be helpful once they get the Senate back, Julian Castro in the swearing in ceremony of new Dem Majority.
