My friend is presenting to a Parliamentary Committee tonight (June 2) at 6pm.  The topic is bill C-38, the same sex marriage bill.  You can watch him on the parliamentary cable TV channel (CPAC or something).

Ummm...you are forgetting something. New Democrats are in favour of same-sex marriage. If not, then they dont belong in the party.

Sorta. It certainly would effect my vote. Anyways, one of the NDP MPs wants to vote against the SSM legislation, and she is getting a lot of backlash from the party.

Which is why he left the party for the Liberals.  The NDP would have had his vote if Clayton didn't basically threaten all the MPs they'd be expelled from the party if they didn't vote according to party doctrine, even if it was against their conscience.

Don't kid yourself: he is very, very left.  Supports everything I honestly hate.  However, he is also very traditionalist, and while he supports legalized prostitution, civil unions, drugs, etc., he is opposed to changing marriage.

Since Clayton's remarks, the NDP just lost another vote which will go to the Liberals.   However, he still calls himself an NDPer.

Good riddance. The NDP doesn't have to worry about losing votes,  they are up in the polls right now. Face it, Canadians like their gay marriage. We even have a new show called "My Fabulous Gay Marriage" which is on network tv. The Gay channel in the US is having reservations about showing it. A GAY CHANNEL.  Oh well.  Muslims support the Liberals traditionally anyways.

And just for the record, it's "Layton" not Clayton.
