"Wristbands sold to raise money for a campaign against world poverty are made in Chinese sweatshops in "slave labour" conditions...One senior official with a British charity last night described the labour abuses as "deeply shocking".

He accused Oxfam, Christian Aid, Cafod and others of "rank hypocrisy" for buying from sweatshops while campaigning for "fair and ethical trade".

He said: "This is appalling. It goes against everything we stand for. If we are criticising big companies for trading unethically then we have to be whiter than white."

Ethical wristbands made using 'slave labour'

You would think that these people who are so concerned with such things would be aware.

A lot of stuff that says "made in America" has 99% of the parts and labour from overseas, it's just that the resulting big peices are put together in the US. It's a joke.

See that doesn't bother me, because I support free trade.

I must say I had a tinge of guilt when I notice that my "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" sticker was made in China. Not because I don't support free trade, but because I find it odd that a country with such a horrible civil rights record is gaining money from our patriotism.

These anti-globalization people are so stupid. This is typical behavior for them. They are protesting the very clothes they wear, coffee they drink, and basically everything they buy.

There is nothing else to buy.  They would have to make their own clothes and so forth to avoid global trade.

Interestingly, it is still possible to buy american made clothing, but you have to go to thrift stores and vintage clothing outlets - much of what was made prior to 25 years ago was American made.  Incidentally of enormously higher quality.

^^^^^

Like the people who protest using animals for medical tests, and in the same breath demand a cure for AIDS and other diseases.  These are not people who have a firm grip on reality, or cause and effect.

Delete yourself from the internet immediately and take an axe to your computer. Especially if you are against items being made overseas. Computer parts are completely made overseas, shipped over here, then assembled in the US.

Um... yeah, that's what he was saying.  He's pointing out the irony of the majority of stuff saying "made in America", despite it not really having done so.  I don't think he said it's necessarily a bad thing.
