The polls say Sanders, but Hillary Clinton says Hillary Clinton.

I think it depends:

Sanders if:

  • He is actually able to raise at least close to enough money, and doesn't hit some sort of ceiling with his small donor campaign, which seems likely in a race his expensive
  • The expected attacks against the socialist bit and some stuff in the past doesn't hold up as well as some think (He hasn't been subjected to nearly the same level of attacks as Clinton)

If one of the above goes sideways on Sanders, then I would say Clinton.

I'd more or less agree with Virginia. If Sanders wants to win, he needs to start getting more money to his campaign. As for the socialism problem, the crazy extremists in the Republican Party call every Democrat a Marxist or a socialist nowadays; will it be any different? Though I could definitely see there being some problems with the rape essay. But as of now, there is no conclusive evidence that either is more electable.

Sanders absolutely no doubt 100%. Although they both can beat Trump.

Probably Clinton, but I'm not convinced enough of it for me to really be more likely to support her. Either of them would beat Trump.

If Clinton wins the nomination, she will defeat Trump. I hope Sanders challenges her in 2020.

edit: like Kennedy v Carter in 1980

edit: probably not likely btw

Clinton.  I'm pretty sure that Sanders would lose to any of the Republicans, including Ben Carson.

I would vote for Rubio over Sanders, and possibly even Cruz.

Clinton. I think she will build up her lead as it gets toward the GE. Seems to already started according to the new CNN.

The person who is still leading even after being attacked for the last 30 years by the press, Republican Party, and the general public.

on average clinton, although there are plenty of scenarios where sanders would be stronger (e.g. if the economy goes south)

Yes her 55% unfavorable number will launch her right to the White House.

Hillary. Americans won't elect a self-described socialist.

Honestly, its a wash. Bernie Sanders does much better with Independents because of his authentic appeal and because Hillary has a history of flip-flopping and lying, but he would ultimately fare just as bad as Hillary in a general because of the socialist branding and his (somewhat) worse ability to fight back against Republicans effectively.

The only thing people like more than a 74-year old socialist is a 78-year old socialist.

Clinton. Sanders can not win unless Trump is the nominee. His social spending is too much.

Really tough to say, but my 51-49 guess is that Sanders is more electable.
