No, I hate how Madision chose an awful Secretary of War who left the Capital sorely unguraded and allowed it to be burned to the ground.

Had the War of 1812 not occured, I would rank Madision as a top 5 President, but it did and he was a dismal failure as Commander-in-Chief.

Take the Battle of Bladensburg, a few days before Washington fell. Al Secretary Armstrone could say was, "The British will never get to Washington," or "Why would they want it?" And Madison listedned to him.

Madison was a great mind and a great man (like Herbert Hoover) but an average President.l
