I was born on the east bank of it (well, the hospital was a couple of miles away), and spent most of the first half of my life on that side of it.  I prefer the west.  The people and the land.

I can cross it daily if I so choose (New Orleans) and actually the West bank is on the South side of the river and East bank is on the North.  Hope I didn't blow your mind there.

But at least along that stretch of the river the East bank is much more interesting (going North out of Alton).

Oh yeah, the river road north of Alton is pretty cool.  I was kind of disappointed later in life when I'd run into other "river roads", they were never quite the same as that stretch.

If the earth reversed in rotation, resulting in more seasonal (cold winters, hot humid summers) west coasts and less seasonal east coasts, would your opinion reverse?

Probably, although I wouldn't necessarily like all of those less seasonal areas or hate all of those seasonal areas. You would probably see the difference most in my opinion of the Northeast vs. the Northwest, with places like New York most likely over taking places like Washington.
