What if Bernie Sanders enter the race in 2012 as an independent and "viable alternative" to incumbent President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. Discuss with maps.

Best case for Sanders/worst case for Obama:

Obama 47.5% / 303 EV
Romney 46.5% / 235 EV
Sanders 4.5%
Other 1.5%

Sanders costs Romney FL and--very unlikely--CO and NH as well. Even giving CO and NH to Romney still has Obama winning 290-248. Sanders reaches 15% in VT and high single digits in ME, NH, and MA.

Interesting that Romney loses just a point. Obama's share of the WV vote must be absolutely dreadful under this scenario.
