It is far from the largest lake by surface area, and it's not the largest by volume either. Perhaps the writer of sentence 5 used a narrow definition of Western Europe that leaves out Sweden (Vänern) and the large artificial lakes of Netherlands (IJsselmeer, Markermeer).

On number 6, commuting time is usually defined as the average time it take to get from home to work. The commuting time is relatively short because Geneva isn't that large of a city. It is a major city only due to the importance of the global institutions based there.
