PoliticsPA has confirmed that Democrat Lois Murphy will again challenge Jim Gerlach in the 6th Congressional District. Murphy will likely this week will hold a press conference announcing her candidacy. [...]

challengers in the country.

I'm actually getting ready to post a PA 6/PA 8 thread to discuss this stuff.

Murphy surprised me in 2004. I expected her to lose by about ten points but we all know it was a much different story. Gerlach ran a terrible campaign. There is no reason why she should have came that close. The Dems will back her again but it won't be as close as 2004. I know turnout will be good for the Dems because of Rendell but it won't be anywhere near 2004 numbers (which helped Murphy).

Worst thing the PA GOP did in the last redistricting was split the old PA-6; that district had history dammit. Ah well.
