This is why it will be difficult for Cruz to beat Trump, even if Cruz wins Iowa. Trump just has so much support nationally, and the rest of the field remains split. Even if and when some of the less viable candidates drop out, some of their support will go to Trump as well as to Cruz. If he needs to, Trump has the resources to flood the airwaves nationally heading in to Super Tuesday.

So objectively, just by the numbers, at this point Trump is winning the GOP race by more than Hillary is winning the Dem race. Impressive.
