Could Donald Trump be a secret double-agent, sent by Democrats to destroy their party from within?
Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who has borne the brunt of more than a few Trump barbs, seems to think there's a possibility.
"Maybe Donald negotiated a deal with his buddy Hillary Clinton," Mr Bush tweeted this week, after Mr Trump cited a poll showing his supporters would stick with him if he left the Republican Party. "Continuing this path will put her in the White House."

I hate conspiracy theories, except in fiction where it can be entertaining enough. This, like every other conspiracy theory I have ever heard, is completely ridiculous.

He was the one Republican that could have cost them the WH, without Jeb, and Trump is the real thing, not a conspiracy. Either he or Cruz will lose to Hilary this election.

It is possible.
But what makes it less possible is that Trump has been considering a presidential run for many years, probably as far back as the '80s.  In 1999 he made the rounds on cable news shows as a possible candidate, if I remember correctly.  I recall Trump was for Bush in '04.  And I recall hearing Trump on the Michael Savage radio show in 2012, expressing conservative views on China.

I hate this theory. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm sorry but Trump is not putting everything on the line in order to help his "pal" Hillary. The "conspiracy" I do accept, is that Trump is not necessarily a conservative at heart, but plays to the base he perceives.

Trump isn't putting very much on the line though. He's hardly spent any money and has gotten a ton of publicity out of it. He's clearly having the time of his life.

Your choice of the word "was" makes me think of another, even crazier possibility: What if he was a plant, but being Trump, became convinced that he could and should win? If he went off the rails from Hillary's original hypothetical plan, that is.

But yeah, if he's a plant right now, Hillary makes Claire McCaskill look like a piker.
