What a sport! Trump destroys his candidacy, and he still acknowledges what fairness is.

This is the first good thing I've heard Carson say in awhile.

Is this a sign of a Trump/Carson ticket?

I don't think Trump can pick him after some of the things he said, but as a campaigner, Carson would help a lot.

Clinton/Castro (DEM)
Rubio/Haley (GOP)
Trump/Carson (MAGAP)

I'll get the popcorn.

Easy Dem win for the presidency but probably helps Republicans in the downballot races.

Its in response to a WP article about the establishment planning to refuse the primary results if Trump wins and nominate someone else instead

Watching the Republican party's self-immolation is nothing short of delicious.

The thing is, this doesn't really make sense.  What is Ben Carson complaining about exactly?  If the convention is brokered, it won't necessarily mean that the will of the voters is being subverted.  It would probably mean that no one has a majority of the delegates based on the primary results.  The vote would then likely go through a number of ballots, and backroom dealing would take place out of necessity.  This is old school politics.

It's a natural outgrowth of the idea that there's (nonexisitant) "anti-Christian"  movement that's somehow oppressing Christianity in the US. If conservative Christians don't get to do whatever they want, to whoever they want, then "they're being oppressed".  Similarly, if the Republicans don't hand Trump the nomination, then the voters supporting Trump are "being oppressed" by not getting what they want, even if the system is objectively fairly following its own rules.

If you hadn't noticed, "screw the rules, I'll do what I want" is a major theme of Trump's candidacy.

Carson is whining needlessly, but Carson is a greater third party threat than Trump. Trump won't run a third party bid because he would be remembered as a demagogue that appealed to the Silent Majority. Which he is, but a third party bid would cement it, put a Democrat in the White House, and demographics from there on would ensure the historical record saying that he is the ideological proponent of an America that never existed (the Rockwellian vision that never was; etc). He has too vast an ego to go through all that, and he knows he can't win the White House as a third party candidate.

That said, his path to the Republican nomination is increasingly pointless as well. Even were he to secure the nomination, I can't simply see him overcoming Hillary Clinton. Too many Republicans would defect, too many people would refuse to vote for him, and he would lose in a landslide. Also a no go for his ego. I'm not sure I understand his game plan at this point; he might be running for the sheer ego boost, putting off considerations of the long term consequences.
